Well, there's an accident already on I-90. Truck dumped logs all over the Eastbound lanes near Snoquamlie. The holiday commute is off to a great start!
Ouch. I've never made a trip over that direction because we always go to Long Beach, but I hear the travel horror stories all the time from people I know that go over to Central to visit kids and whatnot. Usually the only bad part of the trip to Long Beach is I-5 to Olympia. Once you hit the highway toward Aberdeen it is smooth sailing.
We're not making the trip this weekend that we usually do. The wife and I want to use the long weekend to get some more cleanup work done to both the inside and outside of our new place. The yard has TONS of potential, but lots of overgrowth and weeds are hindering some of the nice bushes/plants that are in our yard.
I still might haul the trailer over to our house and clean it out and get it ready for the next trip.
I'd go east every Memorial Day weekend when I was a kid. There was always a jackwad blocking traffic with a boat trailer that either had a flat (and no spare) or a hub that was so corroded it separated from the axle.
We stay home usually on the busy weekends. Just not worth messing with the traffic and jerks.
I would love to be home this weekend, but that's not in the cards for this year as of yet. First machine is 40 days behind schedule, second one has started but is quickly headed south.

I heard this was just West of HWY 18, people were using 18 as a bypass. A lumber truck too.

Haven't heard from you in a while, nice of you too check in.
We usually do something, but haven't this and last year. Have a couple vehicles to work on this weekend, BBQ tomorrow and maybe play at the lake Sunday.
Had some friends take two hours to go from Issaquah to Snoqualime Pass. Apparently the location of the log dump got cleared out and then there was a big accident. While they were waiting in traffic the car ahead of them overheated (no shoulder to pull over) and a separate car fire. Wow....
A couple of coworkers were looking at pictures of that show the other day. Looks like there are some amazing cars there. Tech heads might be strange people, but they buy very nice cars!

Downtown Angelo, state of Neuquen, Argentina. This is looking from behind the apartments they rent us. About the size of Long Beach. Most of the roads are dirt and rough as a cob. Get onto winter here. Was 28 a couple days ago.
Kinda sorta for oil, YPF is the big energy company down here and they bought 2 LMS 100 aero derivatives from GE (I currently work for one of their subsidiaries) and we're building 2 plants with these machines in them. Not just the turbines and generators like most plants but we're doing everything from the road to get to site to sewage treatment and waste water drains.
My specialty was GE turbines in service. I've crossed trained in most everything else that you need to support the centerline so that's what I'm here to manage. I got compressed air, raw water, treated water, demineralization, fire suppression, cooling water, plus all the high voltage including step up (13,800 to 132,000 volts)
