I couldn't be less excited about the eclipse tomorrow. Not exactly sure why, since it is a rare event. Just can't get into it. I'm meeting with some customers tomorrow and I expect we'll adjourn for a break so everyone can go check it out.

ditto. I am not personally hit with any awe or intrigue, but I'm cool with everybody being excited for it for their own reasons.
Made it home, Ex still pulling like a beast. Everything checks out, can't seem to find anything wrong with it. So that's great news! Also a minor bummer because there is no real reason to justify the need for a Cummins swap right now LOL.
This was us and my wife's parents pulling out of Surfside this morning. Also added a pic of the new 5x8 flag I got to pull behind the Ex. Just tested out the fit while we were at the coast to make sure it won't hit the ground at a stop sign. I'll be rolling around Long Beach with it for the Rod Run to the End of the World hot rod show the weekend after labor day.
I don't know why the picture is showing up sideways, but I'm tired. I'll try to fix it later... maybe LOL.
Well, we've eaten fresh crab at least once the past four days. Tonight was the last of it. We went the breakfast-for-dinner route and made egg omelets. Pretty good with fresh tomatoes and basil from the garden.
Got some new wax coming in the mail next week. I've already booked a day on the family calendar over Labor Day weekend to do a full detail on the truck. Time to get ready for winter. New windshield wipers, fresh oil and a clean layer of wax. Hopefully I'll have built up the courage to drill into the bed to bolt my truck box.
Too bad it's only Tuesday...my mind is already well beyond this week.
Where does one find, build, purchase said courage for drilling holes in a bed for a box? I had one, got rid of it and have an idea for a smaller Rigid 32" I may grab.
They do make a no drill kit for installing tool boxes.
When I say no drill I do mean the truck. You may
have to drill the box to mount the hardware that holds
it to the bed rail. Sort of a clamp type of deal.

There might be something that works from the bed bolts to lock it into place.
Worth looking to see if there is something.
That or you could make something and so it does not rust just paint it or power coat it.
Because of the wheel wells not allowing it to set on the bed floor you would need some
sort of foot to sit it in. Some "C" channel would dork well and then just get some bolts
that can go from the lower flange to the bed and that would give you something to sit it
on Then if you want to *** a cross brace you could. For the box you can tack weld some
nuts to the channel or even better you could just some heavy duty "J" Nuts. That way
your not having to be right on the hole to bolt it down. You could even slot it some for
a bit of adjustment room. This way it's not going to walk off or move on it's own and
when you need the full bed space you just unbolt it and no nasty drilled holes.
@Onug when I made a thread in the Super Duty section a couple guy's mentioned using turn buckles and a couple eyelets. I will probably use that for my upcoming box.
Good ideas guys. Maybe I can get some long L-brackets mounted to the forward bed bolts and tie those into to truck box. I need it to keep the truck box removable, so we shall see. I need to stop at Harbour Freight and see if they have the spare tire mounts for the goofy E-track system. I might be able to use two of those, maybe with longer bolts, to secure the box from the sides.
The kit that came with the truck box uses their version of a molly-bolt. I drill the hole and then secure the molly-bolt from the bottom with a few plastic washers to ensure the steel bolts don't corrode the AL body. The mollys provide threaded holes to screw into from the box. That's the fall-back plan.
Coming home. Best part, next to leaving home. Yo-ho. Two tons of thing to do. In regards to Ford trucks, Jim Green has agreed to build my tranny for the winter repower. F*** yeah. On schedule, no ****ing around. My kind of party.
I'm real curious to see how the truck box gets worked out, onug. What kind of working weight will the box carry?

Welcome home! Glad it was a safe trip.
I've got a bunch of gear in there, probably in the neighborhood of 150lbs. Plus whatever tire chains weigh during the winter months.
Think I'll shoot over to Horizon Ford after work next week for filters and then Harbor Freight to see if they have anything. If I can find a mounting bracket for the E-track crap, maybe I can have a welder fab a bracket for each side that will work.
