Heck I had a Dr. apt. and had to get on I40 and I was doing 75 - 80 MPH! I even took the truck up to 85 just to see what the RPM is, 2200 in over drive, and backed it down to 70 - 75 MPH.
I dont mind running the truck that fast as I do have over drive, 2.75 rear gear and the 300 six pull's pretty good at the lower RPM's
70 MPH is only 1800 RPM that is the same RPM in direct drive at 55 MPH.

We NC residents have to be careful, if in an 80 zone you get a ticket for going 85, NC will hit you with a reckless and suspend your license because you we going over 70 when you got the ticket AND you may not know it because of the lag time for records to transfer.
We are in Western Montana now, expecting snow tomorrow night. Right now it is a cold rain and 36 degrees.
Be careful out there and keep the snow & cold out there.
Then again by next weekend we may want some of the cold, talking in the 90's here

Per the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles’ website, an individual’s driving privilege will be revoked for at least 30 days if they are convicted of:
NC Highway Patrol launches speeding crackdown
- Driving any vehicle more than 15 mph over the speed limit while driving at a speed greater than 55 mph
- Driving at a speed greater than 80 mph
In North Carolina you have the right to request a hearing to dispute the speeding charge, however, that will cost $100 just to have your case heard by the DMV with no guarantee of success.
Be careful driving down the interstates on Memorial Day Weekend, as the consequences for your first speeding ticket could be far more than you ever imagined.
On the way home from work Friday in the 97* heat the clutch linkage broke 1/4 from the house and was able to get it home and in the house garage.
Figured it was shady if I want to work on it.
Son move the car out of my garage, another story there, and used the garden tractor to pull the pick up over to my garage.
The cross bar pivot on the motor broke for the 3rd time. The part in the block cam out with fingers and got the cross bad and frame pivot out no problem.
The problem is I could not find the new part I bought a while ago
so my son went to welding up again for the 3rd time saying my welds were NFG.So I went and pull the right side mirror to tighten the pivot as it would move when you closed the door.Got it back on the truck and went to turn it to adjust and the pivot broke from the mount

Between being up at 3am for work, the heat, the clutch fix I dont think will work and then the mirror I called it quits.
Pushed the truck in by hand so I could close the garage door.
Went to move the car and found my son had to jump start it to get it out.
Battery would not turn it over. Could not get it to turn over with a jump start

So had to clean the battery connections and fill it with water then jump start worked.
Oh did I say the wife called my when at work to say her car would not start?
Lights worked but no crank and it was the day after we got it back from the dealer on what I call a BS fix for a CEL, traction control light & blinking speed control light - dirty oil! But this found some other things then needed fixing like they always do.
I did heck the no crank on wifes car, battery that was low on power.
Because I gave up my son took care of the battery, was little over 5 years old so it was time.
I was still pissed today and did not hit the garage to see if I could find that new pivot that is NA so cant get a new one, or order a new mirror.
Will see what tomorrow brings LOL

Its a 1983 Honda GL650I SilverWing with 37+k on it. A 1 year only model but I found a lot of good reviews on them from back in the day & later.
Told the carbs are gummed up from sitting little over a year so could not hear it run. Also told the cooling fan dose not work, could be sender or fan?
It cranks over a little slow, he always had a battery tender on it so I need to look into that but what little it did crank did not hear any knocking.
I need to go over it all like any new project.
I can tell you all the lights work and the radio cranks!
I did order some manuals and parts I know it needs to day and found a local dealer that I can try for other parts like brakes & filters.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Only other setup would be hydraulic and that has its own problems like cracking the firewall, need to add a plate I don't have, a pain to bleed system and it too can go bad.
It uses a different pedal assembly and bell housing, I have both but no master slave or hose.
To install pedals dash needs to come partly out, transmission with over drive needs to be moved back t o change out bell housing don't think you can get the clip that holds the slave to bell any more.
I just Need to cool off a little before i start working on it again, maybe today?

Good news: I found the NOS part and got measurements from it. 3" long my fixed one is 3.25" long, too long but I had nothing to go by when I fixed it.
Bad news: I figured I would use the fixed one so I could use the NOS to have others made off of. I think I saw why it broke, the threads were either too long and bottomed out or the weld would not let it seat on the nut part of the pivot like the base on the NOS one.
Badder news: In trying to get the fixed one to sit on a flat base I ground down the weld and was using a die to thread it down a little more and the welded threads that my son said was better than mine failed also leaving the threaded part in the die.
So I had to use the NOS part on the truck and will try and fix the fixed one again and see if i can have someone make a few if not to much $$$.
Also when I pulled the linkage Ford uses thin plastic bushing between the rod ends that go thru the firewall. They were new when the truck was put on the road little over 2 years ago, they fell apart when I took the linkage apart.
So I had to hit the hardware store for something better but they did not have anything that would fit either the rod or the hole it went thru so I had to make them.
The good is they are thicker and little tougher so I hope last longer and I got extras and it is not to bad now that I know what has to be done to make them work.
I also looked for the new / broken mirror head, glass broke when wife backed over the box from LMC, I must have thrown it out

SO the truck now moved so if I need to use it I can.

My son spent 2 weeks (including his birthday) in the hospital. Then finally had surgery Friday and was released. Didn't want visitors yesterday as he was still getting acclimated to being back home. Today he was interested to see us, so we got some pizza and rode over to his house. Found that his wife had bought him an air compressor for his birthday. It was a used one but looks like it is in very good shape and it's a lot heavier duty than mine. It can do 110v ~ 7.5 hp or you can wire it for 220 ~ 15 hp!
60 gallon, twin cylinder compressor
After being the hospital that long I don't think I would want to see anyone also.
For home that compressor should do him just fine.
Unless you are like me and rebuild cars & trucks then you need a big compressor like I got.
Go big or go home

I need to order a mirror for the truck and it should be really ready to roll now that that clutch works
Also parts for the bike should be here by the weekend I hope.
I need to clean the carbs so I can hear it run and maybe a spinning around the yard as I need to go over it for the road yet.

I have a couple of extra mirrors in my workshop storage, let me know if you need them or need to use anything off them.
I am off Thursday after doctor's appointment in the morning I can swing by and see what you have if that will work for you.
Think I got a bin of parts missing as I should had the 1 mirror that came on my truck and I can't find that either
