Just got to make sure , wouldnt want the injector cups leaking i made it 800k+ on the Mules OEM heart and timing cover, (and im using the same timing cover)
Adam, Mike is right. ELC is for the later 7.3s with stainless cups. The ELC apparently has a chemical reaction with the brass cups in the earlier PSD. Just use the FleetCharge, NOT Final Charge. You'll be good to go!
About breaking in a Diesel engine, here's a link to what seems like a reasonable article. I've never seen much discussion on breaking in Diesels, probably because we don't have to rebuild them very often. With motorcycle engines I subscribe to the ride it like you stole it policy to make sure the rings get enough combustion pressure to seat properly. The belief is that if your rings haven't seated in the first 50 miles, they never will seat properly or at least seat to an optimum seal. I know it works on bike engines but they're not the same as Diesels.
I think if there was some doubt I'd choose to err on the side of too much load rather than not enough during the initial break-in period.
I never even seen SS cups for sale for a 7.3L. If there out there please post. But yes it was just the sealant around the cups that changed in later years for the 7.3L. I believe for the front cover to. If your rebuilding then you will be using the new type sealant I would guess. When I change my cups on the e99 I will go to ELC.
Good, good. Seems im set, Im anxiously awaiting "The Call". I also remember that I replace those injector cups back in 13, (engine gave out in 14) so should I swap them out or let them be? They still look brand new.
Did they hot tank the heads? If so they should of replaced them. You mitt ask. I think just for safety factor I would reseal and replace if they were hot tanked.
Havent heard from the machine guy yet
Did manage to get a boost gauge Autometer that reads up to 60psi and to my surprise on stock setting im only reading 22psi does this sound right? Im positive I have a boost leak due to the more than normal black smoke, higher egt ccv oil leaking thru the plenumsbut, no reduced power. I think the plenums are culprit small leak. On my hot tune im only reaching 33psi? WTF, im prety sure I should be at almost 38psi, some members have reported, with the same mods report?
