I'm thinking the IPR solenoid had something to do with it, thats the only thing replaced when I got her started and drove fine. I'll check it out tomorrow, swap the IPR solenoid out and look into the engine harness for any damage.
I got to install the driver side door hinge bushings and pins and also rear driver side, man is it hard to align the freaking doors, It took more time to align than to remove the old pins and unistall/ install the doors. I'm happy to say I don't have to slam my door for it to close quieter cab to.
Man I don't remove the doors for the pin & bushing replacement. I put my floor jack and a wood block under the outer end of the open door and put just enough pressure on the door to support it. Then I have a 12" long bit I can come in and drill out he original. Once the failed components are gone I drive in the bushings with a long tool we made in the machine shop and then drive in the pin. Release the jack, and praise my efforts over a cold beer!
Victory, found the problem. The GPR shorted out making relay #2 click and buzz truck started right away. Just one more problem every time I turn the lights on and turn them off the driving lights stay on hum, but once I remove really #4 they turn off what can be the problem?
Found the other problem trailer connector had torn wires, I bet it was either the family of squirrels that live on my trees or the field rats, glad I found the problem she's up and running still knocking.
Finally got to read this thread. Great job on the interior, man that things nice, your attention to detail with painting all the plastic to match made it that much better. I hope u get ur issues figured out.
Ok went ahead and bought a new GPR and installed it and same problem, clicking IDM relay, the WTS light, and CEL lights are flickering when key is the ON position and truck won't start either unless I have the two small wires from the glow plug relay unplugged from the GPR and both connected together. I've unplugged all connectors going to the vch same outcome, Idm relay clicking/ flickering dash lights. I've swapped another IDM same thing, swapped another PCM same problem. I'll do more testing tomorrow.
Anything particular that catches anyone's eye on this problem?
When i had this issue I was at loss. I repaired one of the small wires on the GPR that had a tear in it and my issue went away. It wasn't touching anything to short out but It was almost cut in half. Never noticed it since it was on the back of the wire. I didn't know it was going to fix it, but I haven't had the buzzing IDM relay since - knock on wood!!
I'll have to check the engine harness really good, I did had to change a GPR a few months back as it shorted out and drained the batteries, but replaced with a spare one I had and worked great, so it has to be something in the wiring, the only thing I didn't unplug was the 42 pin connector I'll do it tomorrow.
