He told me balancing is mostly for race aplications design for high rpm, he said it would be good to balance but not necessary, as Iong as I dont plan on hitting 5k rpm. As for father son project my son is only 4 and my daughter 2 so they are to young. I could rebuild it myself, but I don't feel competent on doing it, I dont want to destroy such an expensive project, unless you guys are willing to help.
Adam I agree with you. Don't let someone talk you into doing something you not comfortable with. Especially when one little mistake could cost you an additional 3k.
If your are not comfortable with it then the few extra hundred is worth it.
You spent so much on parts, Balance it. It will last longer and feel much better to drive. There was a guy on here that put an IDI engine in a motor home, he balanced it. The factory always balances them, just not as close. Sorry, I don't mean to sound bi----, but it's the best way.
I agree. Balance it. If you aren't comfortable Adam I agree with Mike on building it. However if you want to attack it yourself, myself and I'm sure others will help you as much as we can.
The only two guys that have the equipment to balance want a small fortune $450 to be exact and are backed up in work for at least month and a half.
So im .030 over what would be the new displacement?

450$ wow the las one I had done I think cost me 170$ and we played pool and ate with him... Oh wait.. Special circumstances lol
It also can vary due to some engines may need more or less Mallory.
For a stock application it won't hurt and will live a long life!
But it would be a bonus imo
Adam it is too bad money always ends up being an issue when doing a build. If you only have X amount of money you always try to get your best bang for a buck.
$450 is alot of money. But for $420 you could also or would want to upgrade you harmonic balancer too.
That is something you would not have to wait a month. But you would have to open your wallet for.
Just something to think about. Fluidampr Performance Diesel Series Ford Dampers | Crankshaft Damper | Harmonic Balancer
Ok came back from the machine shop, good news heads are done and those new valves look nice and have alot of meat on them compared to the old ones. He starts on the block somewhere this week.
I notice that the rebuild kit did not have injector cups? I need to buy some
Now for some questions.
What kind of antifrezze can I run with new OEM injector cups?
Is the break in process the same as a gasser?
The oil jet look great with no stress cracks or anything. Can I just get away with using the same ones? Or do I have them weld the oil jets?
Decision made on what color im going with stay tunned for more updates on the Mule.
So its the same break in process as with a gasser. Thanks mike any input on tje coolant I should use with the new injector cups? They all have part #'s
Fleet charge.... It has the sca additive in it.
I'd also do the first oil change at 100 miles then another at 1k with some cheap oil the start using whatever it is you plan on using
