Got a call from the machine shop, he found me new oem IH valves 8 intake 8 exhaust for $100, he told me they were left behind after no one came to claim them 2 years ago, I got lucky and he told me he had some but had to look for them. Score
Adam, have you thought about rather than boring it .030 over, bore it and sleeve it? You could stay with stock sizes that way. I've been told that is the best way to build a higher HP engine too. Just a thought.
I did but $$$$ is a factor, as for future performance upgrades, im staying like this for as long as I own the Mule, all my mods are working great with each other, why change it.
Well its officially done I just bought the engine rebuild kit and wrist pin bushings from riffraff, i will just wait for the yellow tapped package
I hope Clay throws in a free Riffraff shirt
Are you getting a new LP Oil Pump? And while the pan is off what about some sort of permanent fix for the leaky dipstick tube syndrome? Is your engine guy going to balance it? Not sure how important that is for a relatively low speed Diesel, but those pistons and rods are big and heavy.
I'll be back if I think of any more ways to spend your money

The kit comes with the low oil pressure pump, and everything to rebuild the engine including oil cooler and all seals. I never did have a problem with the oil dipstick leaking, luck maybe? I only changed it once when the engine was out for a complete re-seal. No balance, im not sure he has the equipment to do that? Ill ask him thou.
By all the things you are saying the machanist you have doing your work it sounds like he has a good game plan and what a deal on the valves. Did you ask him about valve seats and his thoughts on some of the valves seats that are on the market?
He said he can still work with what the head had, the compromised cylinders left alot of carbon deposite making it look like it was pitted.
That is a good thing valve seats are not cheap to install.
Did the machinist think these carbon deposits were normal or what would cause it to be so bad? What do think the cause?
Or is it just from too many miles and poor compression?
