Bought a VCM scanner from fleabay. Ordered a refurbish toughbook and windows xp sp3. Feel like I'm taking a risk but tired of debating with my self. Couple Kentucky Mules and hit the purchase button. Should be here Monday. Pretty fast with the shipping from China.
The biggest thing is I've seen a lot of these clones that say they will not work for the F series vehicles. Even the FVDI device I mentioned earlier I've read reviews that said it was trash and the seller had no support. I just wish I had a working clone to run some diagnostics on my truck.
Pretty disappointed in AE myself. Not to say it has no usefulness, but several of the advertised functions simply don't work correctly, are incomplete, or simply inadequate relative to their claimed capabilities at purchase to get your hard earned money. The power balance test is difficult to interpret and the nonadjustable scale doesn't help to see separation, and of course lacks the ability to disable compensation. Support lacks too. There are fixes to some of the issues that AE won't update without upgrading your license to something newer. That's a sore point for me. I can understand not updating newer Enhancement license codes for newer years since purchase, but fixes for stuff that didn't work right when purchased shouldn't cost anything or have an expiration. One example would be commanding/setting idle RPMs. It seems to have only one effective increase value to about 1178 RPMs despite a drop down menu showing multiple settings for 2500, etc. So set it for 2500 you get 1178. Set it for something higher, you get 1178.
I had email correspondence with some questions and when I asked about that, they blew me off and never responded back. I was also asking about updates for the OBDII updates and fixes, not just newer enhanced license capabilities, which AE claimed were free and part of your original purchase. The response to that was, OBDII is next to useless for diesels. So? While I primarily purchased AE for my 6.0, I just might try to use it for other vehicles. Needless to say, AE won't be getting any more coin from me.
I still have been using my FVDI device, with just 1 issue. The key I have for IDS is for version 113 so when it updated to the latest I had issues. Since I saved the old 113 installer I was able to remove the newer version and reinstall 113. I then had to set the clock on the computer back to the middle of 2018. To get it to work again.
I know this might sound complicated by it really isn't. It is just a couple of key strokes in Windows setting and everything works.
For the date issue try the program called "Run As Date"

And the really nice part is it's shareware. You can use it or free or you can give him some money for his work.
The IDS Power Balance scale is -60 to +40, providing nice resolution to make out the individual traces. AE is -600 to 600 or -500 to 500 depending how wide you stretch the window open on mine at least. That's really compressed.
Right now I don't know. Most if not all the Ebay stuff is crap and I bet of Amazon has they you will see the same issues.
Maybe you could ask where @Motohead911 got the one he is using. The US - China tariffs can quite a bit of money to
what I was getting. I have not been able to get an answer as to if what I order is paid by the shipper or by me.

It is sitting at the post office about 20 miles from me. I should hopefully have it in my hands Saturday or Monday at the latest. I think I was able to find the version 114 of IDS as well.
