It really depends on how cheaply made that unit is and if it's firmware can be downgraded.
Normally you just run the restore/reload routine from the laptop that has the version of IDS
you are going to be using on it.
In looking at the PCB image they were showing there is a lot not on that board that should be.
I would try an XP Pro laptop that is not network connected. That way you don't have to worry
about any attempts of the software to update or phone home.

I thought I had responded. Wonder what happened to it.
I have been seen it posed that you can get it to work with 7.
BUT have not been able to get it to work for myself. Also I think
in the same place I had seen that. They had said something about
the way that IDS sets up the network is what causes the problem.
There is a work a round but not having a Win 7 laptop to work with
I can't say one way or the other if it really does.
I still have 1 1 clone that I can sell before I have to reorder. Here is
my one issue. I don't buy them by the case and so don't get the best
price on the units like some of the Flea-bay sellers do. But I do know
that the ones I have do work.
I had bought a VCM2 clone from China on ebay a few years ago and never had any problems with it.
I have updated and downgraded it multiple times withe no problems.
I am running Win 7 with IDS v105.01 and never have any problems with it.

How far up does V86 cover?
I'm interested in getting one of these clones but I'm not sure which on to buy
All the 6.0L stuff and back with v86. I am not sure how far forward v101 goes.
The kit has v81, v86 and v101.
I think v86 would cover things up to and a little past it release date.
So will it cover a 2018? Not likely. I need to ask what is the newest
that is covered with v101.
