That's interesting. Would you mind telling me where you got the files from?
I always have some reservation about files coming from China.
Www.flyobd.com The company that makes the J2534 diagnostic tool had to fix the library files which is just an update to the same files provided with the tool upon purchase. Feel free to scan the files through whichever virus app you'd like. I've found no current issue with them and IDS works.
My Windows Defender definitions were updated yesterday morning at 5:56AM EST. Like others have said, this may just be a false positive due to the nature of the patch. However, I would recommend that everyone be overly cautious and only use this on a spare PC that has absolutely no personal information on it.
Has anyone tried the new JDS Ford quickloader on FLYOBD.com that was posted just this morning? I am guessing this alleviates all the file workarounds discussed a few messages ago
I am running V113 with the date change fix successfully now after wasting over 35 hours over the past 4 weeks, thanks to the awesome folks on this site. The EBAY seller I used, provided no useful intelligible help, and I tried corresponding directly with the person at the main email at flyobd.com on several instances but either got no response or a cryptic message that it was my computer fault, Win 10, the process I was using, and to use teamviewer (which I don't know how to use), and they could never connect.I am glad ctroxtell had much better luck in that regard. His instructions are awesome and exactly what I had hoped for for weeks from either the seller or the flyobd.com folks.
One other question I cannot get the answer to from the seller, is when upgrading or changing versions of IDS and the quickloader and sometimes the VCI software, I don't know the uninstall process and how thorough it has to be. So I have been using IObit uninstaller and removing everything that gets loaded, then going in and manually deleting any residual files and folders that I can find on the computer that could be related to the software.
This can be time consuming, but considering the issues, I wanted to start each process clean. In the future if I want to upgrade to the fixed V116, do I need to do this full uninstall, or just do a simple IDS uninstall and quickloader uninstall and install the new IDS and quickloader???? Is it OK to load any IDS upgrades from the Ford site after a particular version is running??? Is everyone convinced Win 10 is not the issue? Seller keeps stating it is me or my computer, and no one is having any issues (obvioulsy from this thread that is incorrect). I even gave them the link to this thread and they claimed it is for a different device than he is selling even though the only difference is the serial number on the device based on ctroxtells pictures
Has anyone had any issue with having virus software like AVAST or Windows defender installed. I am using a stripped down burner computer running Win 10 with all virus software removed due to all the problems I had loading V115 and V116 a couple weeks ago, which went away when I removed AVAST and turned off Windows defender. V114 had loader fine with the virus software. But I would like to turn them back on once this stuff is all resolved.
@jwiese11 I had contacted the guys at FlyOBD.com via WhatsApp and they worked with me via TeamViewer to correct this issue and update the filea I have updated my above post to reflect the changes since they updated the files making it an even easier install. I installed with Windows Defender installed and updated and had no issues. The update process I include in my post shows installing the updates via Fords site updates and works flawlessly. As to an uninstall I would have to have my laptop to give you a list of things to uninstall. As there is about 8 programs or so that install, the biggest things should overwrite upon install. I can help you get it going if needed, just let me know.
I am now running V116 Successfully with Ctroxtell's guidance he updated above. Excellent instructions and even suggested to my EBAY seller to copy and send to buyers they are so good. I did find I needed to do a deep uninstall of everything first. I also had to load the VCI software first otherwise IDS gave an out of date error and would not run. I have not run the V116.02 update yet. But all is working using the current date. Thanks to everyone.
One final note is AVAST did not like this and said it has a trojan, so I totally removed AVAST. I also disabled Windows defender. Next step is to turn on Windows Defender and see what happens.
Make a clone of the drive after you have everything all set up and before
installing any thing and that way you can just restore from the clone drive
and not loose you basic setup on your Windows computer.
That really cuts the recovery time down in you make an oops during install.
Right now I am waiting on China and the USA to pull the tariffs.
I will admit I have three that won't load v86 and have not tested
on any of the higher versions of IDS. If I get them tested and they
work with v90+ we will see. But I need them to work without any issues.
Right now I am out of stock and with the Chinese New Year on Saturday, January 25, 2020.
Things won't be moving at all. Also with the tariffs as I pointed out above I am in a holding pattern.
The IDS is running, thank you very much for help.
One question: how can I permanently set the unit for pressures to psi? With me it alternates between Mpa and kpa.
"If you are programming a 6.0L diesel, the FICM relay must be removed before programming."
Also, at 10:24, he said it was using that VIN to get the information from the Ford server. For a clone, that can be a problem. If not specific, the calibration files are enough I think.
