How much storage space ( hard drive) is required to run IDS and windows 10 pro ? I am thinking about purchasing a dedicated laptop to run only this software. The factory specs dont list minimum storage required.
The laptop they sell has 500 GB of storage , I wont be using this laptop for any other purpose other than diagnostics. I can purchase a used or reman laptop for less if I know the minimum specs.
A 250 Gb will give you more than enough. After all your only working on one truck.
Also I can say that clone IDS would even be happy on 80 GB of space. One thing
worth doing that is a bit extra is an SSD for two reasons. 1 they are fast booting and
2 you don't have to worry as much about crashing the hard drive's heads and killing it.
Oh there is a 3rd thing longer battery life.
I haven't seen that function with IDS, but I do have it with my aftermarket tuning suite. So to answer your question NO with IDS I believe, but yes it is possible with different software. FYI I use HPTuners.
I posted this in another thread and am repeating it here hoping someone can help.
"Trying to do find HP oil leak. How do u control the IPR valve with IDS? On the datalogger tab I selected the FP# mode, but can't control it."
I can manually actuate it, but would like to use the IDS clone. Here's what I observed when trying to use the active command for #IPR, the #IPR changes to a !IPR after a few seconds and no change in the IPR commanded position. Does the !FP indicate a lack of response from the PCM to the command from IDS?
