Honestly haven't hooked them up yet but when shining them off a battery they were crazy compared to my HID 7" lights. Also they will not bounce because they have two anchoring points vs one. The 7" lights will be going on my 95 though! I want to put a 20" bar in the bumper opening and have a motorized plate hider so when the light is on the plate will fold out of the way.
Sorry for being off topic but i don't want to start a new thread about a subject not really pertaining anything truck related. Has anyone dealt with salvage titles before? My fiance and i are looking at a used 2013 Ford Fusion for her instead of her Focus because mom is moving out west to Pennsylvanian (by Ohio) and she currently has the loan since it was her car and she was making payments until my fiance graduates next December. Since she is moving out west the car can no longer stay registered in NH and we would have to drive out there every year to get it registered and inspected etc so the loan and everything is going to fall onto my fiance, my thoughts were lets get something she wants not something she inherited that way there are no strings attached anymore because the car will be owned by us. We found this gorgeous Fusion for very cheap that is certified pre-owned and everything we both love it only issue is...the focus is a salvage title. The focus (2010) is worth about 9k in very good condition but the salvage title takes a hit on the value surely and i did the math i think we inherited a car that might be worth less than the loan currently is on the car.... any advice or am i exaggerating the value of the car now?
And in other news! i ordered an 08 F150 steering wheel because i want to try out how it looks sine the 08 wheel is kinda off centered and idk if i can get it straightened out! The base looks as if it will match up to the 08+ super duty shroud so we will see how she looks and how it turns out.
Also i can going to make a custom center console with a floor shift to eliminate the cluster PRNDL so i can make my own gauges and not get a custom made one with a digital PRNDL in it for a fortune. I will be getting a 05-09 mustang floor shifter and rotating the current cupholders 90* so that it is essentially like an expedition floor console if anyone has seen one. The fuse panel will be moved into that and i will have a panel that detaches so i can get to it and change blown fuses if necessary.
The question I have is why is it a salvage title? Was it wrecked and repaired? By buddy's dad has a Chevy 1500 he got for dirt cheap because it was a salvage title truck. But it got the salvage title from being stolen (not exactly sure how that works). you may have trouble getting a loan on it too.
Did you get the Carfax on it?
My fiance's car is worth way less than what she owes... In a situation like that, we found it best to just hold onto the vehicle. Otherwise, you are just throwing $1000s away to make up the loss on the loan. And adding it onto the loan of the new car is also not the proper way to go about it because it immediately puts you under on the new car.
I didn't carfax it yet but the story supposedly is the original owner bought it and it was hit in the front only 1000 miles after he purchased it new, he was a mechanic so he fixed it and then sold it to my fiance's mom who has now given it to my fiance. You would never know that it was totaled though it is nice very nice shape. I spoke with a guy at work that deals with this stuff all the time and he said selling it privately if the repair was done well then it should only be 1-2k off the retail value so we would come out on top in that situation.
The way the stolen one works is i think depending on the amount of time it is missing they will consider it a total loss give you the money for the car and if it is found since it was "totaled" by the insurance so they could pay the owner it has to get a salvage title even though its fine.

I thought the Fusion you are looking at was the salvage title. So it is the Focus that is a salvage title?
Fusions are a nice car. 4 cylinders get good mileage too.
Agreed and it is a higher end model with 33k on it PO commuted far to work then traded it back in a year later for something newer lol so the "high" milage makes it more affordable lol. I hate how high is 33k on a one year old car but what ever.
That is a ton of miles on one year. But as long as the oil was changed, it should be fine.
I can see why you want out of the Focus. If you do sell it privately, perhaps you should take it to a frame shop and have them verify that it is straight. Or have the alignment checked and provide a copy of the printout from the laser machine. Although the buyer will argue because it is a salvage title, you will have numbers to prove that the car is straight and true. Make it very clear that it is being sold as-is.
If not, it can't hurt to see what different places would give you on a trade-in.
My boss has a 2012 Fusion. Its roomy, has a very nice interior, and rides smooth and quiet. I can say that the leather seats are comfortable for short distances, we have taken this car on many work trips and I hate it for long distance. Although I am only 5'-8", when I sit in the front seats, my knees are above my hips and this causes me lower back pain. It becomes torture hour after hour. I guess that is just one more reason I prefer my SD. I like sitting up straight. But I don't know if you could find any car that has you sit up like that.
What part of PA is your future mother-in-law moving too?
I forget what part exactly i think its Johnstown if i remember right.
Good to know man we are going back this weekend to look at it again and maybe see what the dealer would give us for her car and go from there.
It is a ton but its a certified pre-owned ford vehicle so I am trusting that it received it's routine maintenance, i will look at it better this coming weekend. It also comes with a one year bumper to bumper warranty i guess so we have a year that if anything goes wrong it will get fixed for free or nearly free depending on the problem lol.
Usually when it is just a "small front end accident" people don't notice other damage. Being it has a salvage tittle that usually means it happened on a main freeway or road in a town as usually (not always) on a backroad or small street or in your driveway even it ends up not even getting claimed.
My dad's 89 F250 4x4 was in a front end accident at 35MPH did frame damage and really tweaked things yet it is still reliable and has a clear tittle.
I would watch on a salvage tittle (take it from a guy whom with his dad buys wrecked vehicles and rebuilds them) as it makes the value quite a bit less ( I would subtract anywhere from $1-2K off the price).
Anything that looks iffy then be curious.
I would look into the warranty as being that it has been even in a small collision it could contradict the warranty.
Personally I like the fusion more then the focus mostly because of room and looks but if your focus is a-ok and the fusion is messed up personally I wouldn't get it.
