Monte's 04 Build Thread
Yesterday I tried out painting/dying my rear pillar trim because those are a B**** to get out and you need to remove the seat lol. I also tried painting one of my rear seat belts to see how it would come out, since i am going with a black theme i obviously don't want the light grey belts so i used the same process as the pillar and painted the belt. The results were nice on the belt but it feels stiff now unlike before when it was loose and could bend easy. The pillar however came out great and i can't wait to do the rest of the interior. I used SEM Laudau Black along with their adhesion promoter and plastic/leather prep.
First off is the pillar:
Before:

This is bfore but cleaned and has the adhesion promoter:

After 4 coats of SEM Laudau Black:

It has a very nice color and finish, I painted part of it that was unseen on the baclk and afte rletting it sit for 12 hours i tried to scratch it with my nail and it won't, earlier just after drying i could scratch it lightly but i plan to let it sit for 24 hours before installing again.
Now for the seat belt:
Before:

After:

Not the greatest picture since it was dark and this was in my garage but you can see the color change. The color is magnificent but unfortunately the belt is now stiff. I may try and work it once re installed and see if she free's up because personally i would rather dye/paint them then spend $$$$ on new black belts.
I did all this with one can so thats 8 coats on the belt (both sides got 4 coats total) and 4 coats on the pillar totaling 12 coats of paint and i still have about half the can left.
Here are the products i ordered from amazon:
SEM Laudau black:
SEM Plastic and leather prep:
SEM Adhesion promoter:
I'll start with the sound deadening, Like Justin i got Fatmat from Amazon only i got 25 sqft. of 80 mil and it was $62 and arrived within 3 days. It covered the roof pictured below and half of my floor which had no factory sound deadening at all.

Nothing on the floor:

Of course my dog jumped up and grabbed the roller that came with the fatmat when i wasn't looking, good thing it will come with another one when i order more.

I did not do the front because of the rust i had in the drivers side foot well area.

I used a wire wheel and got all the crap off in the footwall and the channels on both sides under the scuff plates and will be painting them today with POR once it arrived this morning.

I had to buy another distribution block so i could take the three wires from the factory battery terminal and hook them into one 0/1 gauge wire that would fit my new terminal since the other three ports will be used.

Also i mounted my new switched to the 08 center dash panel and made a harness for them.

I just thought this was a good photo lol:
Mega Spring Closeout Blast
I just got myself some mini DS2 X lens projectors for 75 bucks, they are selling the mini DS2 X lens complete kit for 20% off however doing it this way saves $30 off the discounted price which is $262 (with the butyl glue). I just talked to them they added the projectors and FREE shrouds that come with them and then all i need to do now is buy the DS2 HID kit once I'm ready so basically i got my projectors and shrouds now and will be purchasing the lighting parts in a week or two once i get my pay check lol.

I've been following this thread and your dash swap thread and man you guys are confusing the hell out of me with all that wiring stuff. I just don't understand it, lol.

So what else you got planned while you're doing all this? Obviously you've got to finish the dash swap and get the interior all put back together, but you adding anything else while you've got it all torn apart?
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Um...nothing major really aside from the dash lol I got my new black carpet in and installed it today from ACC it was a very good fit and quality and only ran me 180 vs 400 from ford lol.
I'll post more pixs up tonight or tomorrow on both threads.
Also I got my D2S HID kit in so I plan to finish the sash in a week or two then ill do the headlights probably the weekend after that lol.
That paint looks sweet too, love the contrast between the gray and the black. Keep it up, can't wait to see it done.
Here is another little update, Between Monday and Today i got my Power telescoping and folding mirrors functional with the factory switches. Here is a video of the telescoping part, I still need to power the relay and hook up the signal wire for the folding but a drill batter worked great for the telescoping lol.

Also as promised a better dash pic although it's not perfect because my phone hates indoor pictures with no natura; lighting for some reason.
How hard were they to wire up? Do you need the factory switch to work them then?Dash looks great too.
Aside for that you can get two momentary switches for the fold and telescoping but I opted for the 08 interior so I went factory. I got the power fold relay bc its a timed relay which was $70 new but me dash came with one so I have two now lol (if anybody needa one pm me I dont need 2) simply hook up power and ground for the telescoping and run the 4 wires obviously, 2 per mirror. For folding just run the wires from the mirrors to the relay the signal wire from the mirror switxh then power and ground...done. super easy it sounds mor conplicated than it is.
I used the 4 pin trailer harness wires because its 4 extra wires per mirror so routing it was easy since that are all glued together.
As far as the dash I'm making slow progress. I got some sheet metal to make vent adapters tomorrow and once thats done I'll have to address the column mounring issue with the new frame. Other than that it's basically done I need to wire in the new headlight and dimmer switches then button her up because the rest of the wiring is in the engine bay fuse panel I'm adding.
