so i am kicking it into high gear and getting as much done as i can in the time i have left.
I feel the same way. So much I want to get done and the days just keep rolling by... I wish I wouldn't have been so lazy in the spring and early summer...
Ok guys i just finished up for the night, here come the pics of my work so far.
Just set up
Scuffed the entire surface with a paint stripping wheel attached to my battery drill
I removed the upper radiator support bar and the A/C condenser
First Coat of POR15 (silver)
I proceeded to complete two more coats waiting 20 minutes between each one. While i did this i degreased and scuffed up the cowl. I will paint it in the morning so that i can install it once i get home from school at 4:30! earliest i can get started all week the sun will be out lol.
2 Coats of chassis coat black (Satin Black)
Just a reference shot of the unfinished side to compare
Also i got my airbag for my new wheel what do you guys think?
Sorry for the kinda poor pics my phone hates the dark, Tomorrow i will get a new paint stripper wheel and finish scuffing the other side and radiator support as well as the fenders. Also as far as the wheel goes i will be painting it the matching black and i think the orange part i might paint grey.
Thanks!, Yeah that will be today if the weather holds up, not sure If i have enough POR to finish the front end i may have to wait until Friday when i get the rest of it to finish. I plan on doing the Radiator support and frame horns tough so that i can Put the front parts back on minus the bumper this weekend and then get my fenders done this weekend and the frame...if it doesn't rain/snow lol
Very nice. I look forward to seeing more. For the record, your making me want to do this to mine now...
While you have the front end disassembled, they make a little tool called a radiator comb. It straightens any bent fins you have. I got one at Harbor Freight for $5.
No way! I'm all over that right now then lol my condenser is a mess. Believe it or not disassembley only took an hour then another half hour to get to the pint I'm at right now for painting, it's not bad. Just need to refill the A/C system later lol.
Not sure if you guys are following BigBee's 7.3l swap thread or not but it completely went over my head when I bought the Ex tank and I forgot that diesels don't have an in tank pump.. new problem lol. It has 4 wires and I thought that that was like my 95 which only had 4 2 sending unit 2 pump but I guess it doesn't have a pump. I was thinking of making a home made fuel pump/filter system like an airdog but externally regulated so I can just fill with diesel and keep on going once I swap in the cummins.
I was thinking of using an Aeromotive A1000 fuel Pump with a water/fuel separator and fuel filter. does this sound like a good idea? I will run new flexible fuel lines the whole way and this way I can get some nice stainless braided ones like I was going to anyway for my cummins swap. the regulator will be by the engine with an external pressure gauge so I can adjust it just by poping the hood and watching the gauge.
Just to be sure I read that right but did you say there are 4 wires going into the ex tank? If you do then pull the unit and take a look and make sure. My ex has the pump on the frame and so did my 2000 f350 with the aft mounted tank.
Yeah, I didn't even realize you had an Ex lol. My tank has 4 wires going to it, my 5.4l tank has 4 then another black plug on it though which kinda confused me when I removed the bed. I'll take a look tonight but it did say it came out of I think a 7.3l Ex when I bought it.
