I think 409 can surface rust, but it will never penetrate the metal. I didn't know Gibson used 409, but I suppose I should have assumed it because of the reasonably low price.
yes i did. It did surface rust, and i dont think it would have gone past surface rust...but it looked just like the stock exhaust. Just brown...my aluminized still looked good except for some like tar or road crap that got kicked up onto it and melted on

MBRP must use a very high quality of aluminized steel (which wouldn't surprise me). I've never had any aluminized exhaust components of look nice after one winter. I even tried painting the tube with high temp paint... didn't help.
They have 2 series of aluminized...idk the names but ones super cheap and ones a decent price with a better warranty. I went with the more expensive one and it looked great after 2 winters. Only surface rust was on the clamps
I also had a gibson on my old truck and never liked it...it was really quiet. The MBRP muffler i put on, which was basically a straight through free flowing muffler, sounded soooo good. and no, i dont get sponsored by mbrp lol.
It aint hijacking if its helping thats all good info lol. I'll look around though because once it goes on the 95 ill be driving that every winter so I'd like it to hold up.
Nice thanks thats a good article ive been reading it while waiting in roller coaster lines lol I'm on vacation in Florida until Monday. I got some good news though! There were some shipping issues with the Ex tank which resulted I it arriving I MA about 5 miles from my work then ut got shipped back to Florida and it then got shipped back to my work this morning lol. Apparently its in the hallway with my name written in big letters on it so I keep getti g texts and emails aski g what it is while I've been on vacation lol.
I do all the time as well only big stuff though like my 08 dash. The shipping guys like me though lol I ususlly get it oit an hour or so after its in but I told them in advance I'd be on vacation and the shipper skrewed up so they didnt care this time.
Yeah I'm gonna fill it at about half like I always do though so it will be the same price as about 1/4 tank now lol its 13 gallons more but now I can go just over 400 miles per tank vs like 290 miles lol.
Its a diesel tank and I read that I can use the diesel fuel pump but not a gas fuel pump on diesel which makes sense to me thinking about it. I wish I could get an airdog now though so I dont need to do it later when I get the 12v eventually
So I'm trying to come up with idea's of how to mount the Ex tank, I am going to go by that PDF i posted earlier but there's one major difference between my truck and that and that's the fact that i don't have a gooseneck hitch. I don't need one but i like the idea that if i ever need one I'll have it available at least. I was talking to my fiance about having a fiver and she says she prefers camping in a tent but i think once she realizes how nice some of those get i think she would dig it lol...she doesn't know I'm asking so that i can get justification for buying a gooseneck hitch which will allow me to install my Ex tank easier though .
Does anyone have any idea's? I'm trying to think of something useful like say i someday want a fiver then i want to be able to install a hitch if need be just trying not to comprise future mods i may do lol.
Yeah just got tired of typing two different things lol, you can get a gooseneck to fifth wheel converter though.
I haven't really looked much but I like the gooseneck hitches better because it leaves the bed usable instead of having the rails in the bed. Not sure if they are removable or not cuz I just started looking but feel free to tell me I'm wrong it can only help me and others lol.
