Nope
You have to get at the back side so you can remove the cover
and then the branch tubes. After that you can get a the last sets.
So it a transmission or engine out to do it.

Did I see you fixed the front cover scores? You prob did it yourself,, So it was cheaper,, but a new front cover can be got for around $250. I've got a couple front covers if you wanna make some $$$. It comes with head gaskets, lpop n lpop cover, pistons n rings n all bearings. I just feel if it's gonna be done,,, DO IT!!! Reminds me of a phrase,, "why is there never enough time or money to do it right the first time,, But always enough time to do it again?"

I sure hope I done offend you snowseeker,, I'm just offering my opinion. I've really been there, done that. Just hope someone can learn from my deals.
I'm not sure where you're buying the LPOP gerotor set, but I get them for about $30.

I have read threw your whole endeavor with your motors. That was quite the ordeal you had there.

I am in a little bit different boat though. My boat has a machine and fab shop in it and has built many of motor in its time. Stuff like fixing the case cover is part of what I do every day and really, to me, its like I made $250-300 for an hour of work.

On the part of using used parts. This is a touchy one. Now I have no problem using used parts in motors and it is quite the common practice. However there are "consumable" parts that should always be changed with new when a motor is apart like the oil pump. I agree that used lifters especially from another motor shouldn't be used and I will most likely be getting a new set of something or other. I really just asked to see what people would say. As for the used cam, those are one of those parts I have no problem what so ever swapping from motor to motor to motor. They can be inspected, measured, and checked out without much doubt.

Trust me I won't be putting any bad parts in this motor. If it is a used part it will checked over better than the mars rover. If it is a consumable part it will be replaced. If it is a fixable part it will be fixed to factory or better standards.

Now at the same time I really really do appreciate everyones input and help along the way! While every motor has the same nuts and bolts there are those certain "quirks" every motor has and it is nice to know about them.

Personally I wouldn't wait to anything much past 200K to change the lifters in a 6.0 after seeing this and reading about the same thing others have came across. I do find it odd that the lifters are failing like this. They honestly look identical to the 7.3 lifters for many years. Does anyone know valve spring pressures off hand for the 6.0? Possibly using a single lifter per 2 valves is just to much strain on the lifter rollers? Also why still lifters and push rods? Get with the times, put those cams over the valves. lol It eliminates so many parts.

Tomorrow or saturday my new used cam should be here and I can start going back the other way with this motor! Can't wait to turn all the ratchets and impacts from 'off' to 'on'

One thing I will be doing and have been doing since like the beginning of time and it has been super duper uber good to me is coating the new head gaskets. I wasn't going to show this until it was time but I figure it will make good conversation.

I always coat head gaskets with copper spray. In motors that have had a very good reputation of failing head gaskets I have never ever had a motor fail a head gasket after coating the gaskets. Almost all of the motors I build are abused, some never see anything but track time.

I will be doing the same with the 6.0 head gaskets.

Welding to fix stuff.

Hummm... doesn't look like a 6.0 nor an F series... What kind of Ford? Oh, the English cousin Jaguar XKE, I presume.

People here are much more knowledgeable than me when it comes to these Engines, and I'm not say snowseeker is wrong, but I think it can be dangerous assumption to say "Well I've done this with x motor, so it should work with the 6.0"

Again, I have no experience rebuilding this motor, just making an observation. I'm really excited to see the progress and photos!

Let me see if I can find the part #. Any ford dealer. That's what I've been paying for years unless they've DC'd them.

They're $50 now: 3C3Z-6608-BA

These lifters are common to a lot of diesel motors : Valve lifter VL114, JB-2104, L2104 are a few of the crossover numbers.

That's actually the oil pump cover. I made the same mistake when I ordered off their website and I've got the box here to prove it--LOL. It's very ambiguous.
