Oil cover? The aluminum "windage tray" aka upper oil pan?

Sorry, oil pump cover. It don't look good. I'll have some pics in a bit when I go out to the shop again.

I remember seeing pics of a oil pump that took on some roller needle bearings before here but can't find them now.

I am going to wait till I pull the water pump and see how that looks. Do these covers get cavitated/eroded like the 7.3 covers?

Yes they do. If you have the 03 90mm pump cover you'd be, IMHO, money ahead to get the whole thing complete and upgrade to the 100mm cover.

Also, if it's just the LPOP cover you can get them separately for about $45 and gerotor for about $30.

I don't mean to sound negative here but this site seems to have some good deals if you find the engine you have to be beyond help
Asheville Engine Rebuilders - Home It might be a good place to use for comparison to what you will be spending to bring your engine back to life.
Good luck with your project.

This is a 04 motor, however I am unsure if it was made in 03. From some reading I believe this is the early motor, sensor in the valve cover, hpop cover without hole, and horizontal gpcm. Is the 80mm and 100mm the actual size of the over all oil pump bore in the cover? I can check it with a caliper to make sure of its size.

I've seen that more than a few times from reputable people it seems. Thanks for the link. I am having a really hard time believing it though because of the fit of the balancer/sleeve. I am still thinking it over though, nothing set in stone yet.

Yeah I have that $5K limit in my mind as far as parts/work/time goes. I am still a long way off but it is coming up quick! lol

I think that Anthony (run6.0run) had an issue when he had his crank balanced and it had something to do with that adapter.

Did he remove it ever, or had a problem balancing a stock untouched crank?

Thanks! Didn't they do away with the sensor in the valve cover in 05 or something though?

Nope. The ICP was moved from the HPOP to the valve cover in late 04 and it stayed in the valve cover.

So this motor should have the 100mm oil pump? What about the "better" hpop? Or is that all different years too? Was there just a early and late motor or were there multiple changes over many years of the 6.0?

The better HPOP was in 05.

Yours may not have the larger water pump - my records show that change to have ocurred on 7/18/2004. The 100mm vs 90 mm is impellor diameter.

The video posted shows dieseltechron removing the "do not F*** with bolts and reinstalling. So it 'technically' can be done right? Just STRONGLY advised against?
