The 6.0 is just fine with LSD or ULSD.

I seem to remember reading there were some small changes in lift/duration but they should be interchangeable. Hopefully one of the Tech's will be along shortly.

Why so much oil in the motor?

Drivers side looks nice.

Passenger side.

Is this supposed to be full of oil?

The screen, intact.

About 7 gallons of oil is right, right?

This doesn't look like the pictures I've seen of oil/egr coolers?

Looks great down there.

Total oil is about 18 quarts - not 7 gallons (I bet there is a lot of fuel in that oil)

Also, the HPOP sump (4th pic) is supposed to be full of oil.

It doesn't smell like diesel that I can tell. And it doesn't look to be runny either like fuel filled oil.

I am trying to figure out as well if it was fuel where did it all come from? Surely one dead hole for a little while didn't dump that much fuel?

Could the former owner over filled?

You could always save a few ounces and send
it in to be tested.

That lifter looks really bad. When you get down to the pan I
bet your going to find all the little needle bearings.

I think that shot is looking down the lifter bore at a cam lobe. The pics kinda blurry but it does look galled. Not that it's going to matter if that's a couple of cam lobes in that pair of vice grips.

You'll want the cam for the 03. It's a better cam being that it's not quite as eco friendly if you catch my drift.

It doesn't take long at all to fill the pan with diesel from a bad injector. My first truck had 6" of diesel in the pan at 491 miles. When I got the truck back 6 weeks later it had another 2" after 150 miles. Those were the EARLY days of learning about the 6.0's

There was a chunk of the big roller part on the magnetic drain plug.

I guess I'll throw a LPOP on the list too.

You'd better check the front cover first. It may be trashed and give you a chance to upgrade to the 100mm water pump cover.

Yeah I will get into it more before I order the pump. I wanted to get at the lifter to see what I would be needing for that. I have a pretty good idea of my parts list now, just a couple more things to check out and I'll be spending all my money. lol

You may want to look into other motor options at this point (don't remember the mileage on this one). It could get pretty expensive to replace all those parts.
