Snow, I just saw a 6.0 motor on central NJ craigslist for 3500 with 40,000 on it might want to ck it out....Bill
I see that, thanks for the heads up! Says 30K on it but to far away to go get it and would cost a good amount to ship now days. If it was closer I would likely consider it.
I really don't know. Everyone is going to say their lifter is superior over the next and oem. OEM at least sounds like it is good for 150K+ miles.
Our 94.5 7.3 collapsed a lifter and I just replaced them with some ebay special $200 lifters and they have been working like they should for around 100K+ now and still going.
Are those the copper tops I see mention of here and there?
Actually I think they're all supposed to be copper tops, at least all my old ones are. The new ones definitely are and I highly recommend you put them in.
FWIW--I shopped around and got a complete set of sealed power lifters shipped to the house for <$95 off fleabay. I can give you the crossover number for melling and you can get them from Autozone for under $10 each. Oh shoot......you said you already ordered them didn't you?

Good information, I will check out the push rods. Not sure if the tops are visible in my last pic but I have no copper tops in this motor.
Yes the cam is coming with lifters but they are used oem out of a low mile running motor apparently. Everything looked very nice in the pics, we shall see. It was cheap and worth the shot to get a cam. Honestly I am not opposed really to running either the "new/used" set or a new aftermarket set. OEM new seems pricy to me for not holding up well.
You used a set of the sealed power lifters? How many miles on them, holding up?
Anyone happen to have an extra good lifter retainer laying around?

I have very few miles on them <5K actually. I would not use used lifters out of a 6.0. New is cheap insurance, especially for 160/set. I've seen too many fail (not mine, knock on wood).....
A used cam is a different story as long as it's not reconditioned. Ask run6.0run about those.

I agree on the used lifters. The needle bearings can't really be checked.
AND a bad one will kill an engine.
WHAT!!!! Used cam n used lifters????? Please say it ain't so. The oem design isn't a failed design,,, IMO. They just have a life span. I will never reinstall lifters that have been in a 6.0. I just installed a new set yesterday. The old ones were good. A camshaft is less than $500 from Tousley. $250 for the lifters. WHY OH WHY, would anyone skimp on $750 when it can shell the engine. I think most on here are familiar with my previous endeavors. I lost 10 lifters at 580k. Which says, that is the life span of them. If it was just one failure,,, then it's a quality control issue,,, But I lost 10. I've been selling lifters at 300k+ miles. I actually suggest anytime close to 400k,, Let's pull the engine n replace them. It's cheaper than buying the lpop n front cover n bearings n boring.
Did I see you fixed the front cover scores? You prob did it yourself,, So it was cheaper,, but a new front cover can be got for around $250. I've got a couple front covers if you wanna make some $$$. But I'm a fan of just replacing it. The lpop is a major decision factor in going with a total rebuild. It is about $500 just for the two gears. The overhaul kit is about $2k. It comes with head gaskets, lpop n lpop cover, pistons n rings n all bearings. I just feel if it's gonna be done,,, DO IT!!! Reminds me of a phrase,, "why is there never enough time or money to do it right the first time,, But always enough time to do it again?"
I sure hope I done offend you snowseeker,, I'm just offering my opinion. I've really been there, done that. Just hope someone can learn from my deals.
Did he remove it ever, or had a problem balancing a stock untouched crank?
You better make DANG sure the guy KNOWS what he's getting into. The 6.0 crank is a heavy son of a gun. Not many balancing machines can handle the weight of it.
Come on guys,,, Just suggesting that I removed the "do not f with bolts",, Is kinda offensive. Lol.
