And then some time went by and I put some more stuff on. lol
and now parts left.
And I quit for the day. Not much left to do. New oil pump and water pump are on the way. I have to rebuild the turbo and then that and all its junk can go on. I also have to order and put in the flex sections in the up pipes which i forgot about till tonight. I guess I should buy new filters for it as well.
More head fun today. I hope I don't get banned because I am doing something to a truck and posting about it...
Not understanding this post either,, but noone has ever been banned just by posting what they are doing,,, It's because they get upset when they are questioned about why they do what they do.
It sounded like you were defending the copper spray before it was even posted. Why so defensive?? What's wrong with copper spray???? Blackwater uses it!!! Lol
Thanks for this thread. I'm not longer a 6.0 owner but I still creep here and there. I respect your ability and confidence in going against the grain. I can't wait to see her fire up and run. I'm really surprised I never had a lifter failure on mine. I ran it 340,000 miles 230,000 while tuned and the majority of the time it was pulling 5-13,000lbs. I ran 5w 40 Rotella T6 and changed it every 5,000 miles. I would love to find that truck for sale wrecked and tear it apart and inspect that engine. I always wondered what it looked like inside. I never had to dive that deep into it. It was just everything else that failed.
Nope, that is an OEM ford metal gasket. It is 5 layers all together I believe. And one thing ford messed up on is they didn't put a raised lip around the cylinders like pretty much ALL other metal head gasket using motors do.

Yes I spray brand new OEM or aftermarket gaskets with it. In fact I use it on any questionable gaskets in any motor. I have used it on head gaskets in cars that were blowing coolant out, pull the gasket, clean and dry it out, spray it and reinstall it, and no more problems. It is an absolute wonderful thing to have and use!
I take the new clean gasket out of the packaging, hang it on a wire, and spray two coats. Just like painting something. let it set for 10 minutes or so till it tacks up and then stick it on the motor and assemble. I believe the stuff never totally dries up when just sitting. I think you could spray the gasket one day and it will still be tacky the next day. Once assembled and you heat the gasket a few times it dries up some but always stays pliable.

The banning is another deal I was/am upset about with a member here that was building an X.
I wasn't preemptively defending copper spray, I was expecting to have fun with that after I posted it. lol

It is good to hear some are going strong and lasting like a normal diesel engine. While it is obvious every 6.0 doesn't have lifter problems I have to wonder if oil brand and weight have something to do with their longevity. If you look back in the thread I believe I have a pic of the lifters side by side from this motor and the motor I got the new/used cam from. While the new cam and lifters had quite a few more miles on them they looked like they had half the wear of the stock stuff in my motor. I asked the PO of the new cam what oil he was running and he said motorcraft or rotella 15-40 all the time. The stock stuff in my motor I am unsure what the guy was running but I assume whatever was cheap because it was a farm type truck and has dyed diesel in it.
