when for a drive today ! 40 mph was as fast as i went , drove pretty straight. not sure what rpm it was turning , maybe a rpm gauge. drivers door latch needs some work it rattles. a bit squeky but hardwood cab supports and springs . probably front shocks would help it bounces on bumps and rough roads. brakes squeal on stops but are quit effective .plan on visting a few old fellows i had promised a drive. one guy wasn,t home ,next place was my uncle we went for a little drive. then went to see mom,and had to come back home . maybe next weekend i can go see a few old fellows i had promised a drive .
would someone know the part number for a rear wheel cylinder . truck peed on the floor this winter . its new but 8 years old
Bernette,
The 1939-47 rear brake cylinder for trucks other than 122" wheelbase is 91T 2261.
If you need a front cylinder, 92Y 2261.
If you have trouble finding the cylinder, James at Gotham Auto Parts, LLC is fantastic. He knows what he is talking about and is very patient with those who don't know very much. He has a Facebook page.

One of my friends recently dealt with James for all four brake cylinders and a bunch of other parts from kingpins to wheel bearings and seals, etc for a 1939 Ford. I believe that all of the parts were in stock.
thanks ! got my truck registered today for the summer . and when i went to get my papers in the dash ,there was a big wet puddle by the rear left wheel. really makes me want a remote resevoir to see brake fluid level !!! with your number it interchanges to this https://www.napaprolink.ca/Detailmi....511_0155745090 ,so i just order one thanks again !!!
been a while i drove a few hundred miles last summer . got a few things to adress first is my door latch. i tried to find a better one but so far nothing came up. i will try and rebuilt it with weld . theres roughly 1/4 inch missing ,by my rough measurement. hard to have a measuring tape thats not worn out !!! so i used a marker to draw a line on the helper side which was not abused . when i compare with driver side ( i need to add the thickness of the door sheet metal ) theres about 3/16 too 1/4 inch wear . its like a last call for a good used one ,or i will try and repair in the next few weeks. last picture is a spaghetti i used to keep door shut so mice don,t move in.
Hi Bernette, I found only two decent latches and I have most parts for one more tonner and will need these. If that door striker was mine I'd get it out of the latch, grind the end flat, maybe at an angle and weld a square nut onto it by welding through the hole, then around the perimeter. About 15 minutes on the grinding wheel to get the shape needed and reassemble. I am thinking (hoping) the striker bar is steel.
hi gary ! thanks for looking ,the nut ideal is good one . i will be doing some welding next week,i removed it while weather was mild . i talk too burnett son last night ,i had lost track off him since he sold the farm a few years ago. he,s a great guy too talk with and always has some stories. he said burnett ,him and one brother would go up on the farm ,leave a 4am. they had to cross a brook ,so they removed the fan belt, water splashing with a crab distributer. they would cut logs roughly 1200 board feet ,cross the brook and remove belt again. then drive to the saw mill 70 miles round trip ,get home for 8pm . and all that for 45 dollars, now he didn,t mention in what year but he said he was 13 years old.
Thanks, that's a great tale. Kinda makes a 'hard day at work' today seem rather wimpy. And I recall your name is Brian now. Is that correct? And Burnette was the truck's previous owner...
just imagine loading spruce logs by hand . pulp for paper mills was easyer being 4 feet ,and that was not an easy job. your memory right gary my name is brian ,and burnett was the owners name. being a french region here i screwed up his name when i first started ! bernette is a bit girlie with a french accent !!! to late now i gotta live with it .
finally got around to repair the latch ! gary had a good ideal with the nut ,but once i had it apart . it grew from nuts too a bolt . i believe it was a 7/16 grade 8 bolt ,it was the same thickness as the latch bolt . welded the bolt and buffed some off the rebuilt with weld . until it was about what i had drew on a paper . done a partial install with only out side door handle (because my house garage is not heated ) , works like a charm ! door shuts solid and tighter ,pretty sure the rattle will be gone,i will only know in spring ! most guys get a kick of our wheelbarrow so i add a picture of it at last !
Hope you have enough wood for the winter Brian...ill guess its cold over there as well
is it a Suzuki jeep on the picture?
my friend who normally restores 50`s chevy trucks, doing a restauration on one of those suzuki jeeps..... you now can order all sheetmetal for it on the net....
in the 80s you se tons of them here in Norway....but the most of them rusted away...
hi caronisse ! depending on weather i should be good till april ,then it will be electical freezing !!! i got next winter wood in my shed so i can use some if needed. yep suzuki they were very popular here too ,thats my third one . first one i bought new in 89 rolled it then got a 88 rolled that one too ,but repaired it . sold it to a friend who done a major body job and he still has it . about 2 months yet and i will see if my door rattles yet
