Nice bright lights! I really should make the switch to 12v on my truck. When I get the dump body installed I'm going to put some marker lights on it and I know the 6v genny won't get the job done.
good morning guys ! down with a cold again ! stayed quite and rested. my Young helper showed up he should start the bondo on the front fenders next week. i was afraid he wouldn,t come. radiator sent last week ,and i sent my crab distributer to charlie.
could someone take a close up picture of the front fender park lights. my right side was smashed pretty bad. and the left side i,m no sure. maybe a side view if possible.
thanks mark ! what i,m tring to figure out , is if theres some kinda of eyelid molded in the fender. looks like its smooth on the pictures you posted. . my better side has an eyelid ,but it was dented there to.
with a slide hammer and a round piece of iron. i managed to pull it out. we should be able to get the park lens right. i thought i would bolt the park lens ,but theres no room for the bolt head. the glass got a small indentation, but not large enought. i welded a stud, and made a cork gasket between lens and light. sandblasted and painted my head lamps.had to do a bit of welding on them. on the bottom of my fenders where they bolt to the running boards ,there was a reinforcement flat bar. i,m not sure thats original, it helps to stiffen the fenders. the bolts on the fenders were not spaced the same so i welded the hole and made one similar to the other side. on my left fender the crack between the fender and cab was not right it was to large. i probably didn,t weld the cab correctly ! i made a notch in the running board to bring fender in about 1/4 inch, no its even. and during that time my yonng helper been applying bondo.
when i drove my truck in the shop ,the steering would not come back straight by itself. i had adjusted the steering box with wheels straight ,and removed almost all slack. when i turn the wheels the steering Wheel felt tight on left to right full turn. i suppose the gears ware more in the center ,because thats where you drive most of the time. i had installed bushing and seals thinking it would be ok. i guess i will have alot of slack in the ,middle to get the left right full turn right. yesterday i played on the adjustment and didn,t remember exactly which way to adjust.
craig46 had made a good write up on repairing a steering box. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-question.html
