Going isn't usually a problem, but stopping is. Imagine going down a 6-7% grade of winding interstate?! ... now that's white knuckle combined with sphincter cardio.

Many of the same thoughts I had when I saw it. Last summer I saw a guy with a Toyota Tacoma towing a bumper-pull TT with a 28' box, that had (according to his license plates) driven up to the White Mountains of NH from Massachusetts. Unfortunately, I was unable to take a pic of it.
Saw similar situations in the UK this last May. Can't believe what some get away with over there. Nothing like watching the equivalent of a Geo Metro pulling a 20ft trailer down the M1.
Dang Hurricanes! We were going to leave today for the mountains but will in the morning instead. I don't want to pull the sail in tropical storm gusts. The rivers are over their banks so no kayaking. Bummer!
If it makes you feel any better, I blew out my water lines yesterday. I'll finish winterizing Saturday.
We had a "maybe" trip planned for the weekend of Oct 19th, but I think that has been scratched and we will spend that time getting all of our stuff together for our trip to Iceland at the end of the month. That trip should be a real adventure, traveling with another couple that we RV with and will be doing a self driving trip around the entire Island.
That same couple is trading their '94 Foretravel 40' Class A RV in on a brand new Jayco Pinnacle 36PKTS, it was ordered 3rd week OD Sept and should be in end of Nov or early Dec. We were told that no matter when it comes in or how cold it is we ARE going camping! Looks like maybe Cherry Hill CG just outside DC, it's open all year and the Capital is always fun to visit. I'll have mine blown dry before then and then will redo that and fill with antifreeze when we get back.
They picked up a new F-350 crew cab dually for it already, nice truck!
Oh yeah, me too! We all first saw it at the Hershey RV show and they fell in love with it, they started off looking at Redwoods which are super nice but very high priced, this Jayco is nearly equal in quality and over $20K less. They ordered it with the residential fridge, LP generator, washer and dryer, second awning and a bunch of other goodies but passed on the full body paint. The F-350 is a 4X4 Lariat 6.7 dually in Magma Red, they had it Line-Xed and had the hitch installed this past week, they are ready to go but have to wait on the fiver to get built!
We are supposed to be at New River State Park tonight but instead we are at home with the generator running. If the power does not come on we will scrap our trip this weekend, Florence and Michael have really hurt our camping schedule.
We are still without power but my FIL lives next door and he is taking care of the generator while we are in the mountains. Power will probably be out for a couple of days.
The Ex pulled the US421 Blue Ridge mountain, camper in tow, like a champ, it likes the cooler weather. Cooling fan was screaming at 3500 rpms but the temps stayed good.
While pulling the 8% grade for 5 miles up 421 to the Blue Ridge Parkway with the trailer in tow I was going 40-45 MPH, fan roaring at 3500 RPM, ECT at 223, EOT at 232 and my 4 ways on I came upon a car and passed it. A little electric BMW could hardly get up the mountain, must have been going 30 MPH.
I have a question for those using the propride hitch. Does this hitch have a positive or negative effect (or neutral) on the effective tongue weight that is applied to the hitch of the TV? I am looking at a new trailer with a 685 dray tongue weight and I read that the propride hitch is nearly somewhere near 200 lbs of hardware, so does this mean I am getting close to the max tongue weight that my Ex can handle? I have a 2000 XLT 2WD so it is rated for 1000 tongue weight with weight distribution. Also when measuring the real tongue weight, with a Shoreline tongue scale, with the propride setup, do you still weigh at the ball mount, or do you now weigh at the stinger where it is engaged with the hitch on the truck. Any tongue weight comparisons anyone can share using a genuine tongue scale before and after propride setup would be appreciated.
