We have our first weekend home in a month and a half. Have spent every weekend at a different state or private park with the family. It all starts again next weekend with 4 weekends in a row of camping through the Ohio Valley. Can't wait to be home for a weekend and can't wait to get back on the road!
Has anyone painted their own trailer exterior? We looked at some new tts on Monday and I may have a wife that is VERY interested on upgrading. I think I could appease her for a couple of years with a refresh of the exterior of our Gulfstream.
I thought about painting our old trailer and tried to find some info online about it. Not much out there. Once I started looking at all the prep work involved, I gave up on the idea. I'm sure someone skilled in automotive painting could do it, but that's not me.
I can recommend looking for something lightly used if you know exactly what you want. It may take a while, but sooner or later the right one will come along. Saved me 15K over new and the one I found was indistinguishable from new.
I got my renewal for my plate yesterday, the State came in very low for my Surveyor's value and billed my property tax low, I ain't saying nothin! I renewed the tag even though it doesn't expire till the end of October.

The thought is find what we like now and try to find it again in 3 years or so used. We bought our current TT used and absolutely love it, but it's a 26' rear entertainment model, which is fine with a 3 and 4 year old. As they grow I'm thinking we and they will need more privacy so we are wanting to move to a larger bunkhouse model. Either way we will be out and about with something!
As far as the painting goes, I've found several people that have but I don't know what kind of skill it takes to get a clean finish. When we purchased this TT the stickers were rolling on the edges so I took them off. In a few spots I was a little aggressive and the paint is really thin, to the point of almost being gone.
Camped at Zion National Park in Utah this weekend. Hiked the Narrows and Emerald Pools. Ex did great towing in 100 °+ heat for several hours in one of our farthest trips so far with our trailer.
There was one other Ex (also from CA) in campground. Think it was pulling an Airstream.
Today we drug the TT 180 miles of highway to a ProMotocross race for the weekend. First time using the Hensley on any real highway driving. Unbelievable how easy this thing makes life. Not to mention the 6.0, set the cruise at 67 and let it work. I counted two down shifts the entire trip. Both after slowing down for traffic. Will get some pictures of the "campsite" and racing to share this weekend.
Keep up the photos guys! My camping season is over, I'll be winterizing the trailer next weekend and parking it for winter.
I've decided to put some cash and time into my little old trailer since I don't camp that much I can't justify a new trailer. So that being said I'll have to learn a little about how the trailers are put together when I rip into it.
