That'll be us in the next few years. Want to do it next year, but my boy is taking 11 days to tour Spain and Portugal as part of his Spanish club in HS next April. That's gonna be a pricey trip! On top of that, I'm thinking another dirt biking adventure in Moab is needed. I'm feeling the need for some 2-wheel Bromance..........
Trying to salvage what is left of summer by heading up to our local alpine lake (non-motorized) for a weekend getaway. It'll be 13mi to the top pulling the TH in low range due to the extreme altitude, ruts, mud holes, etc. Taking the family, so that means the paddle board, kayaks, my fishing pole and my dogs. Should be a good little break even if its just for the 2 short days. Also planning a trip to Silverwood Theme Park in Couer d'alene, Idaho for Labor Day weekend. Will be crowded, but I promised the family we'd get away for a few more days before fall sets in around here.
Headed Camping for the first time with the Excursion as the tow rig this past weekend, everything went smooth and it did pretty well. I just wish I could get a little more MPG's out of it.
We went to Maple Park Campground in East Wareham, Mass this past weekend. On my return leg home, I got about half way home and blew off a turbo boot for the first time. I had switched to DieselSite boots back in 2009, and it finally caught up with me. I was happy with 9 years out of that one. I thought I had a spare in the truck, but it went MIA. Tried to get it re-clamped but It just wouldn't hold. Thankfully I was able to limp her home on the back roads. I ordered a replacement through Riff-Raff on Sunday night and got it installed tonight. Hopefully that won't be an issue for quite some time. I will definitely be adding a back-up boot to the toolbox again!!!
Molson09, We all understand trying to squeeze a few more MPG's out of our tow vehicle's. It doesn't help when we keep getting bigger rigs! Congrats on the new tow rig, happy camping!
Trying a little "pure Michigan" this week. Overnight at Ft Custer state park. On our way a bit farther north near Sleeping Bear dunes. This place is nice enough, sites have some privacy.
Not quite Montana.

Welcome to the enchanted mitten. All we have to offer are trees and humidity. Sorry for the rain this evening.
Already planning next year, I just booked a site at Curry Hammock State Park in the Keys for June/July. I know, hot but it is the Keys and I haven't been there in 30 years. Sites in the Keys are super hard to get.

Wow, that does look very private and roomy Eric, not another rig in sight! Have a great trip!
We did Christmas in the Keys 2 years ago and stayed at the KOA on Key West. It was OK...place to park the camper...that's about it. Some places you go for the ambiance of the campground and some places it's just somewhere to sleep. Christmas was awesome down there though. We took the kids sailing with Santa on a big catamaran. I don't think it ever got below 70° while we were there. Coming back to N Ga sucked in a big way.

Thats a 7.3 correct?
What kind of towing MPGs did you get, over how long of a tow and was it mostly highway or country roads? How heavy is the Jayco?

Correct 7.3. I averaged around 9.5mpg but we live at 1900' and went up to 5500' elevation via small highways/roads with lots of turns. Trailer weighs about 6500# It was just under a 200 mile round trip.

I didn't know they let Buckeye's into Michigan......
I grew up on Lake Michigan and we've pulled up to The Bridge and camped a few times. I haven't been back to Sleeping Bear since the government claimed "imminent domain" on our family friend's cottage and proceeded to demolish it.
But I do love to visit the Cadillac and Travers City areas!
Yes, our Jayco Eagle came standard with them, I then added the Mor/Ryde heavy duty shackle and wet bolt kit. The new shackles are twice as thick as the stockers and the original plastic bushings were well worn at about 12k miles, feel much better having the new bronze bushings that I can grease a few times a year. Our old TH had the regular solid equalizers and didn't ride nearly as smooth as the TT with the cushioned equalizers does, a nice upgrade in my opinion. Get the shackle and wet bolt kit too!
3rd day of rain at Roan Mountain, TN. Hopefully will clear today. Limited internet and no tv signal makes the wife and daughter bored. We did go shopping for school stuff yesterday in Asheville. Good news os the camper is nice and dry.
