Progress ... hanging sheetmetal!!

!!!The more I drive the old gal the more fun it gets!! Its been raining so much here in south Florida that she hasn't gotten much use lately.
I signed in to Yahoo to check my email the other day and found a blog about vehicles. On Yahoo Auto they show case people's personal vehicles on a website called Bold Rides. They ask the owners 7 questions about their vehicles. This is the one I found :
http://www.boldride.com/ride/1974/chevrolet-k5-blazer
I thought they might be interested in featuring my truck so I sent them this email:
Hello,
<O
</O
My name is Keith Seafield. I am a firefighter in <ST1
Miami </ST1
and I own a very special vehicle that would make a great feature ride. My grandfather's actual fire truck from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com
Chicago</ST1
. He used it in the early fifties when he was a member of the Chicago Fire Patrol. I recently completed a 5 year restoration of this wood framed truck built by the Schukraft Truck Body Builder Company of <ST1
Chicago</ST1
. I have the complete history of the truck from when it was built in 1951 to my acquiring it in 2007. Here are the answers to your feature ride questions:<O
</O
1. How did you acquire your ride?<O
</O
I bought it from the Fire Museum of Greater Chicago for $800. I found out about the truck while researching for a book I was writing. <O
</O
2. What drew you to it when you bought it?<O
</O
It was used by my grandfather, Captain Michael J. Kinsch, during the early 1950's when he was a member of the Chicago Fire Patrol. <O
</O
3. Does it have a name? <O
</O
Patrol # 5<O
</O
4. What do you feel like when you drive it?<O
</O
Overwhelmed! Imagine sitting in your grandfather’s fire truck looking out the same windshield he had looked out some fifty years ago. Pulling the handle hanging off the dashboard to activate the siren as he had done while responding to fires. I imagine him in the seat, his large fingers pointing out the route that he wanted his driver to take to the fire. I can see him putting on his fire coat and helmet while formulating his plan of action. What an experience it is!!<O

>In April of this year, my grandfather's original driver, Ron DiRenzo (age 83) drove my family in our cities annual parade!! What are the odds of that! That he and the truck are still around and were re-united. Search Youtube for Chicago Fire Patrol to see video's of the event.<O
</O
5. What you would change about your car, if anything?<O
</O
Air conditioning and power steering would be nice but not original.<O
</O
6. What have you done to make it a bolder ride?<O
</O
Just restored it to its original glory! I just finished a 5 year restoration of this wood framed truck built by the Schukraft Truck Body Builder Company of <ST1
Chicago</ST1
.<O
</O
7. Dream accessory for it and why?<O
</O
Would love to have my grandfather sitting in it again. He passed in 1975.<O

Here was their responses:<O

Another question I had was- as a <ST1
Miami </ST1
native as well- we would love to do a video interview of you and your father regarding the truck. If this is something you might be interested in we can coordinate with our video team and get something worked on in the near future.<O

Dennis, I will let you and everyone else know how this turns out. There are plenty of great trucks owned by FTE members that could be show cased. Maybe we can start of run of awesome Ford trucks… they are always looking for stories!!<O

Once again, I'm hanging on the edge of my seat waiting for a video clip.....LOL
I'm glad you and the truck are getting some recognition

We recently got in touch with our video guy and he said he would love to do an interview regarding the firetruck. We're going to shoot for Saturday, June 29th if you're available that day. Or we can do earlier in that week as I'll be out of town the following week.
Let me know if this works for you and we can go from there, thanks!
I told him the 29th would be fine as long as my Mom's surgery on the 24th has no complications.
I am real curious too as to what the interview will entail. The man responded to my email a little while ago. It turns out he lives 5 minutes away from where I store the truck.
Yep, History Channel. An hour show on your truck would be way better than 99% of the stuff on TV now.
