Thanks Bobby ... I agree!! I can't wait to get some professional pictures taken of the completed truck. I want to wrap it up soon. I have a short armed spotlight coming in the mail and that will complete my set. I will be working on the rear salvage covers soon. Once these items and the windshield wiper are installed, it will be ready for some pics. My boys want a poster sized picture in their rooms.
Very cool!
Do you have some sort of setting picked out to take the pics at? I would say either something grassy with trees or an old firestation, or an old industrial looking bldg, etc
Thanks Bobby. I was thinking of an old brick fire station and there are some in a neighboring city. An old industrial building is a great idea too.
Or I was going to use a company who can photoshop a picture of the truck in front of its original Patrol house. I had them do my Buick in front of an old gas station as pictured.
We did the Memorial Day parade this morning. The turn out to remember our fallen vets was not good. There was maybe a 100 spectators. But the truck ran good and I didn't run out of gas!!!
Patrol 5 house ... I think the shiny restored truck photo shopped in front will look pretty cool!!
Like they say Keith. Pic's or it didn't happen. It's great to hear ya had her out again. It's summer time. No reason to let her get dusty just sitting.
Yes Rich, its going to get a lot of use. All last weekend and today.
Thanks Bobby. Unfortunately the Buick has been off the road for almost 2 years now due to low compression in one cylinder. I pulled the top of the motor off and had a valve-job done. I just need to get it back together and the boys have been bugging me to get it back on the road. Maybe this week!!
Joe, the front of the original Patrol house is the winner
Bobby, here a Toutube video of the Buick. Check out my license plate!
Keith, we really do need to do a FTE Road Trip to your house!
Get that Buick back on the road for those kids! I'm sure they are thinking about doing burn outs in it when they're 16! The Buick has got to be a rare one with the triple green color (love the look), vinyl top and bench seat. Sounds great too. Wow... good stuff!
Thanks Guys .... yes its time to get her back on the road.
Joe, they want burnouts now at 6 & 10
Its one of 801, all matching #'s. I curious to know how many triple green one were made. Its a Florida car. I bought it from the original owner's brother about 45 minutes from my house. The dealership is still there although they don't sell Buick's anymore. I bet they would like it on display in their showroom.
Come on down ... you have your choice of rides ... big or small
We only have a few more minor things to do to finally finish the project. We ran into a minor problem when we tried to install the 2 door spotlights I bought on eBay. The ones I bought had angulated exterior brackets. What we need are straight ones to make them fit right just like the original ones were. I contacted the Unity Spotlight Company in Chicago, the original company still in business, and they make only 1 bracket so I bought a pair today. Here is the link: #1 Installation Kit
I wish the picture of the bracket was better but I really have no other choice but to use it otherwise I would need two fabricated.
We also need to work on the 4 rear bins and make them look like they are full of 44 covers. The frames were built the other day. We plan on attaching the salvage covers to the wood frames and fold them over multiple times making it look like there are stacks of covers.
I only bought a 8' x 20' foot green canvas cover and we will use moving blankets between the folds to give us more width. The board actually sit back a few inches so the folds won't stick out.
Been a little while since I've been around, but had to check out your progress. WOW that thing looks great on the road!! You've gotta be a happy guy Keith! That thing has turned out wonderfully! Be sure to have lots of fun with it.
