Progress ... hanging sheetmetal!!
Here is the link to Yahoo auto: http://autos.yahoo.com/news/ride-1951-chicago-fire-truck-w-video-143237827.html
There were quite a few mistakes which I tried to correct.
They are still sending a film crew out for a story at the end of the month!!
Just some misinformation mainly because people are not aware of what the Fire Patrol was.
If classic cars could talk, what would they say? One Miami firefighter Keith Seafield relives firsthand the experience of 1951-era Chicago fire patrol with his classic fire truck. Built originally for the Chicago FD in 1951, (Was never built for the Fire Department) Keith acquired the truck in 2007 for the purpose of a full restoration in honor of his grandfather Captain Michael J. Kinsch.
Thanks to some help from the Schukraft Truck Body Builder Company of Chicago, the truck has been beautifully restored to near-mint condition, and is completely drivable. (Schukraft shut down in the early fifties)
My guess is they have some pay by the hour flunky, one who probably isn't even a car nut, entering the info.
Let us know when the videos get posted. We can't get enough of your truck

I am curious at to how the video taping will be done. I plan to email the person in charge to see what it will entail. I am thinking about asking them if they want to create a scenario on how the Patrol functioned. I could get two friends to help me. One would be my driver and we could pull up to a fire scene ( my house with smoke showing by using a smoke machine i have access too) get off the truck wearing vintage fire clothes and fire helmets, take some salvage covers off the back of the rig and enter the house. We could end it there or even (if the wife aggrees

) throw some furniture together and cover it up. What do you think?I looked at some of their other videos and they have the owner drive the vehicle and have a close-up of him as he talks about it. Thats what I am expecting. I will let everyone know when I find out.
Maybe we could play it fast-forward like the old Keystone Cops.....woohooo
Whatever happens, it will be cool

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
One of last kinda big projects is done. We filled the 4 rear bins with covers ... well technically we did. As I mentioned in previous posts the truck originally had 44 covers in the 4 bins. Each cover costs around $100 so there was no way I was going to spend $4400 on salvage covers just for display. I bought 2 covers and we made it look like there were 44. I think it looks pretty good. Maybe a little too perfect but still functional. There are some minor things to get done on the truck.
The truck video taking has been put on hold. The video company that BOLDRIDES.com was going to use didn't work out so they are trying to locate someone else. I believe it will still happen but unsure of when. Enjoy the pics!!
Excellent work on making the appearance of 44 covers out of 2. Very nicely done, that really makes the back complete.
Thats a shame about the video company. Once more you have us all sitting on the edge of our keyboards....you big tease
