Progress ... hanging sheetmetal!!

Making progress on the 51 F7. My new bodyman Gerald is working out good. I bought a few sheets of 4 x 12 18 gauge steel. We layed them on top of the original side panels and made our pattern. We left out the holes for the additional compartments that had been added in the early sixties.

Panel primed. It still needs more trimming to make opening for side compartment.

View of left side compartment with the wood work completed. The sheet metal will be nailed and screwed to the wood framed body. You can see the metal compartment on the floor.

Tomorrow we are taking the sheet metal to the metal shop where they will make the bends in the metal for the compartment doors and side near the rear door. It will be much cleaner than doing it by hand.

Here is a pic of the new diamond plate floor.

Thanks Birdman!! I am real happy with the progress. My bodyman thinks we will be ready for paint in 4 weeks. I wish I had the money for that. It might be in primer for a little while until I get the $$.

The wood framed doors being 60 years old needed some repair and modifications.

We had to remove some material off the top of the door to make it fit.
