Keith, My very best congratulations to you on your retirement. Your retirement bash looked great. Liked the cake. I remember so clearly when I said good bye, the guys presented me with my helmut. It definitely was a moment. Even as a "Vollie", the gang were close. You did amazing things with the truck. I always highlighted your rig when talking to others about restorations. You did good Keith.

Thanks Jim!! That's nice that you got your helmet. I got to keep mine also and its hanging up in my sons room. He wants to be a firefighter too! You did an excellent job on you truck too!
Hello Gentlemen, I finally got the book on my truck printed! It’s been done for over 4 years and I couldn’t wait any longer. I had to use a different printing company then I had anticipated due to costs. I had planned to print around 250 copies which would have cost me 6-7 thousand. This option would have kept the price down a little. I just don’t have the funds to do that right now. Instead I used Blurb, which is a print-on-demand book printing company. They are charging me $39 a copy and that’s with me making no money. I am OK with that. Blurb often runs 25-30% off coupons frequently or if you purchase 50 or more copies then they take 25% off the lot. It’s a good quality book which is hardcover, full color and comprised of 120 pages. Best of all, I designated a few pages to the comments made by my FTE brothers who supported my project/thread. So, 25% off puts the book at $29.25 plus shipping $3.99 I will be making the book available on their website so everyone can order directly from them. If you would like an autographed or inscribed copy, then I can order bulk and it will cost a few bucks more because it will be shipped to me first and then to you. If you want to wait out until the 30% discount is advertised, then it will be a few bucks cheaper. Below is the list of people that said they were interested in obtaining a copy. I know it’s been a few years and some people may not be interested anymore or are not active on the site as I have been the past year. I just want to thank everyone for their support over the past few years. Thanks again Keith dennisb56Wmrdalydvm 1948F1dude
Hello everyone! Its been many years since I visited the group. I hope all my old friends are doing well? I still have the old gal and she is running well. Its been challenging over the years for storage but I don't have plans to ever sell her. My sons are adults now and they still love the the rig but the interest is not as it once was. My oldest son is now a Miami-Dade firefighter and he started on the job almost a 100 years to the day his great-grandfather started in the fire service! I was looking over this thread from many years ago and somehow forgot how much work went into the restoration! I actually know of two more Patrol figs for sale and would love to try and save them but my wife would not be too happy about that! Everyone take care!! Best always Keith!
Thanks for checking back in. I had wondered how you and your rig were doing.
Storing it has to be a challenge. You just need to buy a house with a huge garage.
It's still beautiful.
Hi Joe,
Nice to hear from you! Yes, the plan is to move out of south Florida to the central part of the state in a year or two and buy a house with a built-in RV garage.
I started a Facebook group on the Chicago Fire Patrol a few years back and recently someone posted a pic of my grandfather in another rig. I think it a 57 or 58. No one in the family had seen the picture before so its neat to see it after all these years. The picture was taken at the 1958 Chicago Thrill Show located at Soldier Field. That rig is currently for sale but needs a total and costly restoration. I will post a thread about it another time.
