So? nunada stuff on this new?
U will just put on the redneck ram?
Each rig will bea different system.
I remember your constructing that very robust system.
Now, on this relative's, you'll (not combine but) have the ram as stand alone?
Deciphering your questions best I can.
I am staying with the current Saginaw p/s pump and steering box. Putting the modded end and top caps on the p/s box and then adding a ram after adding the new trac bar/ram end mount (Kiser Riser). Maybe go with the Red Neck ram, maybe DIY4X set up. TBD
Son in laws rig is already a hyd ram assist set up, just need to do some repair work and beef it up a bit. But we might be changing the front axle here real soon, still TBD. You know I will keep this thread alive with updates as they happen.
OK, probably just getting them mixed up (not hrd 4 me) as pic are close ups, I don't re-read a (piece or whole) thread, etc.
Thnx for the summary, makes for clarity (if ever achievable on my end) 8^ 0
Well been back home for a bit and man do I have a always growing list of projects/house repair/chores and other truck repairs to make and alot of other things that keep knocking the p/s box mod further down the list. I am not sure if I got the top cap drilled and threaded big enough...more research time.
1Ton:
Can U still find those BFG TA/KO or is it all TA/KO2 only now? I need an ol KO in a 9.50...
Thank you Paul - oh, BTW: its a 15 inch tire like ur-own..
soowee Rich (jack), welcome back, relax - teach the ol lady ta do'em. After I did that
she never let me do anything on my return, she had it all done HER way on my rebounds~
(ok i admit, costs:benies to my methods..."Do I live here too?")
No idea Chad. Been forever since I even looked at tires (other than checking out the new Micky Thompson and Dick Cepek offerings) and can't say if the older stuff is still around.
However I do know this, if they have not been made for more than three or four years, then nobody other than a used tire dealer is going to have them. Because most large retail tire shops aren't even allowed to touch a tire that's more than 7 years old now by law (or market pressure?) so are not likely to sell one with only a couple of years life left in it.
In a worst case scenario, you could buy two of the new ones and keep the odd good old KO as a spare. Not the best result, but not the end of the world as tires go.
Good luck. Nothing for it other than to deepen the search and keep an eye open for "new" used ones on Craigslist and other forums.
I'd be selling mine by now too, if I had the time. Been wanting to go with a 33x10.50 instead of the 31's but have not had the time or money for a new full set of five. I'll let you know if anything changes in that regard though.
I am NOT having my wife mow the yard. Even though she has HER own MOWER for when I am on the road working. Same for oil changes and working on trucks/Bronco's. That is MY wheelhouse, not her's.
I am going to get my research on the correct tap sizes for the hydro assist mods back on track. I do not want to do this more that ONCE! I have a tall version of a Kiser Riser to work in the mix, or the below product. And some other good ideas to add.
Quality lines material.
Wrapping the guard material.
Heat shrinking the wrap in place.
You know when I saw the steering box re-enforcement in the pics it reminded me of a rig I saw built with ram-assist steering with a F-150 2WD box. Those boxes require an additional bracket to run on the stock frame, and while the hang low, eliminate the need for the drop pitman arm. IIRC the are also a little "tougher" than the stock Bronco boxes. Ram assist works really well for tires over 35" tall.
Here is some F150 2wd steering box info (see the attached PDF). West Coast Bronco's website is down, or I would post a link. They have a nice tech section about p/s box sources to add p/s to EB's. And getting one from a 2wd f150 is one they mention. And then they show you how to take it part and mod it even more.
Well I got the Diy4x4 heavy duty/drilled and tapped end cap installed and pretty sure I did not pinch the o ring. Next I am working on replacing the top cap with a spare top cap that is now drilled and tapped for the other line.
Trying to figure out if I can just hold the allen head bolt end (the end of the sector shaft) in position and remove the nut. Then again while holding the allen head bolt unscrew the top cap from the end of the sector shaft. The reinstall the other one. I do not want to mess up the free play adjustment/gear lash.
