I am just trying to get the p/s set up to working right and be dependable. Hence the possible hydraulic ram assist route. I am not ready to go high steer and cross over, and ride that snowball of follow on mods down the hill. Remember this suppose to be a thrifty project, and not a money pit.
"Kiser Riser" to get the trac bar up a bit and give me a better spot to attach the static end of the ram. That is the research plan so far anyway.
Well I sourced a replacement OEM cap (just to have on hand) and I got the cracked one removed. NO sign of anything hitting it from the inside of the cap. So not sure what cracked it. Driving fwd with the repair/upgrade route research.
Well I am at least putting the aftermarket HD end cap in there, to start out. After a talk with the local machine shop tomorrow, I will start to document the modification plan.
oh, it is that "4x4x2". I thought U hada trick w/a heavy gm of some sort.
Part of this is cuz an above pic which makes 1end look bulbous & not very ford like.
Another due to the 'end cap' supply co verbiage abt gm cap.
OK, thnx~
A while back I received the DIY4X 3" cap, it fits perfect diameter wise. Going to be a challenge to get it in there with a new o-ring for sure. Had to get a little "lip"
machined off the inside to get full movement of the piston. I also got my p/s box spare top cap drilled and tapped for 3/8".
Also got a "Kiser Riser" in the mail the other day...Google it. I got it to relocate the trac bar connection point (on the axle end) (up) and give me a place for one end of the ram to attach to.
Redneck Ram.
So the hi pressure line still comes from the PS pump to the PS box. I'm not sure how the bx is connected to the 2 fittings on a hydralic ram (got em on my sno plow). I C frm the info U sent the DYI line/drill out on the top (U describe a 3/8 incher above) plate/cover.
Gee, I must B dyalestic.
I could not visualize the hydro boost lines either when 1st exposed to the benifit. Sketches all ways "do it" 4 me. Is there one on-line somewhere (the last link or w/whatever, did not have a whole view system). What dia/length ram do U have?

Diagram below.... right turn pressure goes out the end cap port and to one port on the ram via a line. Left turn pressure goes out the top cap and to the ram other side port.
West Texas Offroad https://www.westtexasoffroad.com/ will drill and tap the actual box. I like being able to swap the caps in case I break another box.
