That pic reminded me that I need to make a gas tank skid/bang plate. When I came off that ledge I wacked the gas tank hard on the right side, right at the seam.
Worked out just fine, but I got a reminder that I need to build a gas tank skid plate. Another project after I drop the tank one last time to do my EFI conversion. I idled off it, with a lot of brakes on. Slow and easy and wait for the bang. Glad the measurements were correct for you.
I need to work on the rear tank skid plate next, and then doing a double trans cross member for more protection underneath. Here is a cool deal I found a while back. https://www.ford-trucks.com/articles...tackle-trails/
Got tired of having to try and work out a weekend to be able to go 4 wheeling at some local off road parks. So I decided to build my own in some spare back yard property. Working in about a 4 to 5 acre field. Cutting 2 new trails thru the wooded part, and adding another way off camber creek crossing.
So far I have collected for FREE 6 rail road ties, 4 telephone poles, 5 slabs of concrete 5'x4'x4". I have a lead on some FREE big ol rocks (any thing from 2'x3'x4' to even 4'x5'x6') to make a "rock garden". And have a lead on some old concrete truck excess concrete piles. Getting some trees trunks tomorrow.
Have a lead on some old T wall/ highway dividers, a couple of concrete culvert pipe, couple of backhoe tires. I am going for some thing like this, but with a fast track around it all. I have a list of other FREE items just have to go pick up. X-bro in law has a skid steer with a bucket, forks and an auger. Should be fun.
The below pics are some ideas off the web.
I have to make the fast track with a couple of whoops so the grandson can ride his dirt bike there too.
Well we hand cut and chemical treated all the thorn trees stumps in the big field. 4 long bed truck loads of them thorny beaches. Brush hogging it tomorrow and starting the lay out of the obstacles. Also cut 2 new trails in the woods along with a new creek crossing, its so steep, and I almost put the Bronco on its nose doing the 1st crossing test. And then I went and got these for the course.....for a 12 pk.
