I'm located in northern Ohio. The last time I was in the tech was trying to tell me the hard shift into 5th was normal for a big 1 ton. The last 2 1 ton Fords shifted smooth I want my 5 spd back . If this is what the 6 spd does. Mine has 16,??? miles on it...
They put TSB 110421 A on. Sorry forgot to put here too. I put it in a different trans thread.
Are you sure it is TSB 110421? I'm new to this thread and admittedly state I didn't read the entire thread, but I have read the entire thread for the 6.7 diesel, before realizing I was reading the diesel thread rather than the Gas thread. In the other thread, there is much disappointment with the 110421 TSB. It's been out for a while, then pulled, and sounds like it is back out. Anyone have any success with the TSB 110421 for the 6.2L V8?
I have had my truck for 9 months. I have had the 2-3 flare ever since day one. It has been to the dealership 3 times with the same frustrating response everyone of you have received too. It seems to happen after resting for 2-5 hours. Also, only seems to happen when start out going forward. If I put the vehicle in reverse to back out of my parking spot, then I don't have the 2-3 flare.
Based on comments on the other thread, I have started to document the issue. I was writing down the dates, but now I'm videoing the flare for video evidence of the problem. I'll be posting my videos on youtube soon and let you know the link. Please keep us posted.
They brought it out for the diesels first, then looks like a update for the 6.2L. Which is what I think the A stands for. I have not had any problems since the update. I did ask the dealer what was put on and that is what he told me and it's on my paper work.
Have you been to the dealer this week? They just got the flash on Monday. So you might want to try that.
Just wondering, you put the transmission problem on YouTube, did you put any of the good stuff up. That is a problem with America, only publicize the bad and forget about the good. Which is the reason I refuse to watch any news cast.

Which thread is that? The latest flash has not been pulled ever and the majority of the 6.7 folks are more than satisfied with it. There's been some issues with the NOx sensor throwing the CEL but that's an issue with the sensors themselves (which there's a shortage of currently).
My truck is due for an oil change, and it'll definitely be getting this flash, just need the rain to clear up for a day or two so I can ride my DS to work...

@kmonty2: My truck is scheduled to go into the dealership on Monday. (Thanks to the forum informing me of the latest TSB information, not Ford or the dealership, which it has been in there for 3 times for the same symptoms)
You are right. I did not put up any of the good stuff on youtube. And there is plenty of good stuff to put up. I love my 2011 F250. It is the sweetest truck in town and many people tell me so all the time. There is plenty of positive stuff on youtube regarding the 2011 F250. Just search it - you will see. But obviously, you are not suffering from the same frustrations I have regarding this flare problem. I'm sorry you believe I'm only trying to publicize the bad, but actually I'm trying to get my truck fixed. As soon as Ford fixes my truck, I'll be glad to pull it down off of youtube and begin to promote Ford again. My youtube posts now are to document there is a problem out there. For so long, I've been told my truck is performing as designed, and that is BULL. Thanks to information found on these forums and on Youtube, we create awareness. My post is for information only.

@2000Silverbullet: The thread I was referring to is: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...1-04-21-a.html
It discusses about the TSB being released, then pulled, then put back out. The thread is for the 6.7 diesel. (that thread is 23 pages long)
I don't know if it was actually pulled or not, I was just speaking by what was discussed in that thread.
My truck is going in Monday for the TSB 20110421 A. From what I gather, the "A" is either for the 6.2L or for the re-release of the original TSB.
Just watched the UTube video. This is the clearest record I have seen of this issue. I just wish you kept both the tach and speedo in frame while shooting. Whats the speed when it finally makes 3rd?
Please post and let us know how the flash works, positive or negative.
Good luck, I know I'de be pissed in your shoes.
I have only learned of the flash from here too. There is a ton of good information on FTE. Like I said, hopefully the flash will work for you, I have not had one problem since it was put on. When I call the dealer about it, the rep had to go ask to see if there was a new one out for the 6.2L. I don't think Ford will send or tell anyone about it, otherwise I think it would be considered a recall. And I don't think everyone is have as big of a problem as you are. Mine only did it a few times, but not enough for me to take it in for service. I know this is a new truck with new motor and new transmission, which means some bugs need to be worked out and I will give them some time to figure it out.

@nycsteve: Yeah, I realized I should have had the speedo and the tach in the frame at the same time, but I'm trying to drive and video at the same time. (good thing I did have gum in my mouth too
I'm guessing I going about 45 - 50 mph when it finally shifts into 3rd. It almost happens daily in the same spot when I leave work, thats how I'm able to capture it on video. It's a slight incline and I'm giving it moderate, constant acceleration the entire time. Once it shifts to 3 you see it quickly go into 6th and I believe that is b/c I had to get off the gas since I'm in a 45 mph speed zone and I'm going faster than that when it finally shift 2-3.
I'll keep you all posted how things go this week. Thanks to FTE, we all can be informed.
Quick note. Just put my camper back in storage today. When I was pulling it before the flash it would do the same thing ksduckfan's was doing. Get on it hard and it does not know what to do. Now I tried the same thing today, smooth shifts and it hit each gear like it should, no missing or jumping to a higher gear. I was in to/haul mode though. Before there was some hesitation in first gear, none today took off good and got to 30 mph in no time.
I will keep everyone posted on how it's going for the next couple of weeks. MPG's are going back to where they were, now that the transmission is out of learning mode.
Alright, I got my truck back from the dealership on Friday. They had it for 9 days and a little over 100 miles. Here is what my invoice states:
4697 Due to internal failure test drive couldn't duplicate, contacted hotline and they said to reprogram the tcm first, reprogrammed tcm and cleared the keep memory alive and test to drive to relearn the shifts and found shifting within factory specs.
Right now it is shifting much better and it is very smooth. They said to stay off the interstate for the next 500 miles and hit every redlight possible so it can relearn my driving pattern. My fuel mileage seems to be a little better too. This is a large dealership and super duty trucks are their bread and butter. I took the tsb #to them that is posted on here from the 6.7 forum and they said it didn't apply to this truck. It was built the first week of November.
So, my truck seems to not have any of the mentioned tranny issues when taking off and upshifting, but i have noticed that pretty frequently when the truck is cold and i take off then start to brake, it downshifts hard between 3rd and 2nd gears. After the tranny warms to temp this does not happen. Anyone have this issue? I only have 2500 miles on the truck but it was an early build of March 2010. It has never been to the service department for any of the updates or TSB's as of now.
I know what you're talking about Chris, it's either harsh (my 2nd to 1st are somewhat harsh but not bad) or the truck seems to lurch forward when downshifting, which sucks when you're rolling up to a light and the truck jumps forward. If this TSB is based on the same changes as the 6.7, I think (and I could be wrong) this may help that:
