I'm not a trans guy but on my tractors solenoids open & close valves in the the hydraulic system - so I would think the trans solenoids would do something like that.... Maybe someone like Mark K will come along & give us the real answer...
Well I have no records of them even touching solenoids on the transmission... nor did the coordinator mention it.. it did do the slip last night after not being driven all day too. Anyone have the TSB number on the update/solenoids?

It's part of the same trans update TSB. If the truck was built before a certain date (can't remember, Nov 2010 or something), the solenoids get replaced. If it was built after that, the replacement isn't necessary.
Thanks, mine was built in March '10, so I guess it's time to call the dealer back for the THIRD time since now it does it between 4-5 and on upshifts 2-3.. and the ticking noise from the other post is getting worse to the point I feel like I bought a 7.3 TD.
It might be time to find a new dealer if they can't follow 3 steps:
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Inspect vehicle build date. a. If vehicle build date is on or before 11/19/2010, proceed to Step 2.
b. If vehicle build date is between 11/20/2010 and 4/11/2011, solenoid replacement is not necessary, proceed to Step 3.
2. Replace the three normally high solenoids. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01B. Proceed to Step 3.
a. Remove solenoids in-vehicle, identify the service band required for LPC, C35R/SSB, C456/SSE solenoids. Removal of the control is not required.
3. Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 72.04 and higher or 73.01 and higher.
My truck was built August 2010 and they are going to replace the solenoids. The problem is getting the parts. I have been waiting for a month so far and the dealer still has no idea when they will come in. I have to get my oil changed but would like to combine the trip to the dealer with the TSB work because it's a 1 hr drive to get there and means taking a day from work. Has anyone else been waiting for parts and how long?
I finally bit the bullet and drove back to the dealer with a print out of what 2000silverbullet posted. They looked the TSB up again, and the service coordinator (not the one I've been dealing with) said "hm. It's been superseded". Made a drop-off appointment Monday, they will do a road test with it Tuesday and do the updated TSB, as well as drive it before I get it back with the computer hooked up to it. The dealer is also providing me with a rental car, probably a Hyundia or something... Hopefully it's at least a Fusion/Impala.

Which dealer are you using? I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a 2012, and I also live in Waterford, CT.
It was superseded by TSB 11-06-11. Nothing changed with the procedure though, just the wording in the title and issue statement.
They were still looking at the TSB that does not mention the solenoids.

I went to Whaling City. They got me a really good deal on the truck, I'm happy with it but I've been at a battle about this issue... Just don't go to Plaza One

My dealer in michigan told me the same thing(superseded TSB)I cannot take my truck in until july 13
The worst part was when I called to make that initial appointment prior to this one, I told them there was a new TSB out on it since the last time I had the truck in...
