horn button

The Custom Cab windshield reveal mouldings are stainless steel. The headlamps doors are chromed steel on Custom Cabs, painted steel on Standard Cabs.

JC Whitney & Western Auto used to sell replacement headlamp doors that were aluminum.

1961/65 F100 Custom Cabs came with innie wheels. The 9 1/2" O.D. stainless steel hubcap (C3TZ1130A) has been reproduced. Only Standard Cabs had painted hubcaps, there were two different paint schemes.

1966 F100's came with outie wheels. The 10 1/4" O.D. stainless steel hubcap (C4AZ1130A) is the same as 1964 Galaxie. There were two different paint schemes of this painted Standard Cab steel hubcap.

Note: Ford did not offer any front hubcaps for 4WD's until 1967.

Same 3 spoke steering wheel: 1960/63 Falcon/Comet / 1961/66 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F100 4WD / 1967/70 F100/350 / 1966/72 Bronco.

Same Custom Cab horn ring (C3DZ13A805D): The same applications apply as the 3 spoke steering wheel (except Bronco's), ditto for the Standard Cab's horn button.

There were four versions of the horn button originally. One was marked Falcon (1960/63), another Comet (1960/63), another had the gear/lightning bolt (1961/67). In 1968, Ford replaced all...with one with the Ford oval.

Whitewall tires were first offered as an option in 1964, prior years were only available dealer installed. The width of the whitewalls on this truck are correct for the time period.

The tailgate handle was cadium plated, not painted.

It's rare to see tu-tone paint on these trucks without side mouldings...which were (like tu-tone paint), an option on Custom and Standard Cabs.

Since the truck has been repainted, I wouldn't be surprised if a prior owner removed the mouldings, filled in the holes.

The fuel cap would have been painted Wimbledon White originally. The stainless steel fuel cap was available at the parts counter.

The L/F fender emblem on this truck is from a 1966. 1965: FORD F100 above / 1966: FORD above, F100 encompassed within the emblem below.
Bill what was the horn button design for 1966 F250? Thanks

I've tried and tried to find a decent decoder so I would not have to bother you guys with this, but what specifics can you tell me on this serial number? F10YL836831.

I greatly appreciate any and all help. Thanks!

Am I close?

Smile '65 F100 decode

Here's the data from my pickup:
Vin: F10DR636279

Max GVW Cert Net RPM DSO
5000 172 4000 720603

WB Color Model BDY Tran Axle
115 'Blank' F100 D81 G 08

The color for the truck,as looking up underneath the front fenders,beneath the undercoating,appears to be a Sierra Bronze.
The tops of both front fenders ,revealed with the hood open, show a faint '738' number, possible paint code?

Any additional input on my truck will be greatly appreciated.

F10 = F100 2WD

Y = 352 2V

L = Michigan Truck Assembly Plant.

836831 = 1966, assembled March 1966.

The COLOR code is listed separately on the Warranty Plate.

Decoded as to Warranty Plate sequence.

F10 =- F100 2WD

D = 352 2V (D = 1965 only VIN engine code).

R = San Jose CA Assembly Plant.

636279 = 1965, assembled January 1965.

115" Wheelbase.

No COLOR code (the truck was a special order, painted a non Ford color per the original purchasers request).

F100 2WD, 5,000 lbs. GVWR

D81: D = Light Beige Crush Vinyl & Medium Beige Ladder Pattern Woven Plastic // 81 = 81B Custom Cab.

G = MX Cruise-O-Matic.

08 = Ford 9" Rear Axle / 3.50-1 / non Limited Slip / 3,300 lb. Rear Axle Capacity.

5,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

172 net HP @ 4,000 RPM.

720603:

72 = San Jose (NorCal) Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

0603 = Domestic Special Order number. The truck was special ordered by the original purchaser, not bought off the lot.

Since there are no 'build sheet' records available for FoMoCo vehicles prior to 1967, there is no way to discover what the special order color was.

NumberDummy,
Do you have a list of those numbers in the vin that shows the year of 1978-1979 F250's? I am looking for parts in junk yards and would like to be able to identify the year modlels while I'm there?

Thanks

Welcome to FTE

Historically, new vehicles are introduced in September of the previous year, so production usually begins in August.

The COLOR code is listed on the Warranty Plate between the W.B. (wheelbase) and MODEL codes.

If there is no COLOR code, the truck was painted a non standard color per the original purchasers request.

WB- 114

Trans -A
Axle- 11
114" Wheelbase.

M = Corinthian White (first year for Wimbledon White: 1964).

MODEL code: F101 = F100 2WD, 4,200 lbs. GVWR

A = Ford 3 Speed Manual Light Duty Transmission.

11 = Ford 9" Rear Axle / 3.70-1 / non Limited Slip / 3,300 lb. Rear Axle Capacity.

The MODEL code decodes to the series, 2WD or 4WD, and the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

Another VIN

Just purchased this '66 in wimbledon white, Excited to work on the ol' gal. Think I will call her "Whitey Ford."

F10YC861416 anyone want a stab a decode?
It's hard to see the info on the vin but I can barely make out the words made in canada on the upper right.

hood emblem is that of the 6cyl but it has what appears to be a 352 with three speed moved from the column to the floor.

How hard is it assuming the trans is original to return the shift to the tree?

Thanks!
