Tinsmiths made and repaired items of tinplate. No professional tinsmith would have accepted being called a tin-tapper. Tin-tappers were roaming metal workers that repaired dented or broken metal ware and did not create such items on their own.
To NumberDummy : What would be the first upgrades you would do with my stock 223?

FoMoCo referred to the 223 as the Mileage Maker Six. There's not much you can do with it, cuz its get up and go, got up and went!
When you said tin tapper was from Vegas, I thought tin tapper had something to do with entertainment. Red Norvo was a tin tapper of sorts, played the xylophone.
Bill, can complete nut and bolt sets for different parts of the truck be ordered? My 63 uni project I got has the front sheet metal loosely bolted on with a few bolts. I looked at the hipo book, looks tough to find all the different part numbers. Rod
Complete bolt sets are available here. Great company.
Number Dummy, what is a 16412 or 16A550? It i on page 823 of hipo book. Big square thing that goes behind right inner fender? Looks like it has a bracket too, 16C568. Do I need this on my 63 UNI? Thanks, Rod

Couldn't find 16412. 16A550 is the basic part number for accessory splash (mud) guards that fit behind the dual rear wheels on 500 series and larger trucks, 16C568 are the brackets used to retain them.
WOW!!! I think I just found out that my truck is a 1962 and not a 1963. I just bought it two days ago and was told it was a 63 but just ran vin and its saying sep 62 for the model. here it is... f10jr331231
WOW!!! I think I just found out that my truck is a 1962 It's not, it's a 1963.
I just bought it two days ago and was told it is a 1963 but just ran VIN and it's saying Sept 1962 for the assembly month/year.
It's a 1963 that was assembled in September 1962. I decoded your VIN/Warranty Plate codes in your other thread, said the same thing.
New vehicle introduction time begins in September of the previous year, so...new vehicle production begins in August.
1963 serial number range: 325,001 - 445,000.
Notice the 2013 Escape in my sig. Purchased 10/15/2012, assembled 9/12 (September 2012).
And, btw: You posted this in the 1961/63 Uni forum. Your truck is not a Uni which has the bed welded to the cab. You have a short Styleside 1957/60 "wrong bed."
Thanks Bill, yes I posted that just prior to seeing your first answer. I wasnt sure what defined a unibed and if I had one. Let me ask you is the term "wrongbed" just a nickname? Or is my bed from another model truck?
Has there been guys in the past to correct the wrong bed line match up? Can I drop the bed a bit with ease? Also I want to add that i TOTALLY FOUND A 9" CARRIER WITH A 3.25 AT THE YARD TODAY!!!! I spend abut two hours trying to get it pulled. Both brake hubs were stuck...pried those off after a longtime, then both axles were stuck...another one of prying and then finally got all the stuff off the punkin and got it out. I have never done this before and I have to say i am seriously proud at the moment. It came off alreally cool 72 ford shorty van. This thing still had the bubble windows in tack and all. heres what the tag says off the pumpkin.
wev-g / 2DC / 3.25 / 9 / 730A
Can someone decode all that? I for sure know its the 3.25 and 9 inch and i counted the spline...28! perfect.
I'm mostly interested in the axle code "24" But I would like it decoded if you guys wouldn't mind?
I've figured that it was made in San Jose, TuTone Springtime yellow ? Wimbledon white. It's a 1966 Camper Special F250 w/ Custom Cab.
