For comparison, you might just spend a few bills on a blank TS chip and pick Matt, TW or PHP for chits and grins...I will probably be picking up an extra chip soon cause I didn't realize the restrictions of receiving others tunes when I bough my burner. Maybe we can work something out with you sending MY blank chip to get burned for your mods? You will have to pick up the $40 or so for the rotary **** if you don't already have one

I offer this not because I doubt your tunes, but because I think it would be cool to see what you think. (i.e. free experiment ) JUST KIDDING ON THE LAST

I have tunes from Elite and Swamps for Hybrids your more then welcome to try...

The Elite tunes are about 3 years old, but still feel great!

The Swamps needs some tranny tweaking but the power and smoke control is great!

Hey, I just made the offer, no insult by it...

I cant drive my truck at all right now so I will send you my Elite chip, so you can be happy... And I will send my Swamps chip to Bill... That way you are happy as well...

Just want you to be happy...

yeah, haha, CSIPSD; I see what you're trying to do here, you feel as if 1 or more of youre dp tunes are not what you consider to be what you imagined....

Look, my opinion on this whole thing is this:
Jody created tunes that performed, and people buy them because they put out.
Installing a tuner on a truck is like snorting cocaine; lifespan might shorten, but the rush will be scary fast till youre done.

You seem to know a lot about tuning, buy a tuner system and program it yourself, that way you can get exactly what you want. These companies are selling exactly what you want - more power. Added power comes with a trade off, and you know that. Wether it is advanced timing, increased fuel, etc, you are stressing the engine beyond what it was made for, and you're playing Russian roulette.

If Jody's 80 econo tune truly employs 45deg of advanced tuning, I'm sure the reason is that through testing he concluded that was the sweet spot for mileage and power, which is why you bought it. Are you going to say "yes, but it will reduce my engine lifespan" ? It could potentially do so, that is part of the reality of what you're doing.

Furthermore, I see repeatedly people mentioning engine failure using the DP - Tuner and getting foul; when months earlier I read "WOW, dp 80e feels better than hypermax 1xx!!!!".

It's simple dude, you pay to have someone make youre pistons hammer down harder, and thats exactly what they do.

Ok, i am curious. What software does it take to data log? I am a newb to diesels, but curious if "timing" is an issue that pops the motors. Do I want my motor to survive yes. I tow long trips, and don't want to be stranded 10hrs from home. I can't afford that tow home. So again I ask what is needed to "look" at these tunes and the parameters that are changed.

Any idea how much timing was being called for in your tunes Joe?

Here is something else to look at. Look at these two pictures and tell me what one you think would be better for the truck... Then I will tell you whos tunes are on each one...

My truck idles a HELLUVA lot better warmed up with 800ish of ICP with my hybrids. I have a couple tunes with a "normal" ICP (500-600) and it idles like crap. Are those pics taken at first start-up or fully warmed up? Looks like the stock temp gauge is in the normal range in the top pic...

Lets stop for a minute and look at two things...

Here is a 80hp tune from DP tuner...

Now here is a 80hp tune for the same type of pickup from Tony Wildman...

Now I compltely understand the "you play you pay" saying... But if you dont know what your playing with, then there is no point in playing.

Are you really saying, knowing what you know now, that you dont have one question in your mind each and everytime you push that little button to the econo setting? Do you really think someone would falsely make up data like that to further some agenda?

Slow down, read what has been put infront of you and draw your conclusions from the data...

I know your not accusing me of this but others will...

I am not trying to sku data one way or another...

Both shots are on a completely warm motor, just pulling onto the jobsite after a 260 mile drive

Picture-turn off-remove keys-change chip-restart-picture...

Joe -- I see there are two layers in the graphs you're posting. What are they?

EDIT: I don't know which is better, but I know in my truck, the slightly higher ICP provides a lot better idle. I know I'm going from a ~7x increase in injection pressure with a stock injector to ~5x increase with my hybrids. 500psi x 7 = 3500psi @ idle. 700psi x 5 = 3500psi @ idle. I'm also holding 3000ish at WOT with these hybrids, where before I was dropping below 1800. 3000 x 5 = 15,000psi, 1800 x 7 = 12,600psi. So I gained all the way around...

Nope, I sent it out to Joey before I could get it checked... There have been others with Hybrid tunes that were in the 45-47* range but...

Mine should have been extra retarded... They were "PMR Safe" and set up for 30% meth so...

Hate to know what would have happened with regular tunes...
