Thats your ride? Looks like a Mormon Mover to me! lol. I'd like to see you put 1500 worth of mods like I did and **** out 600hp and 1100lbs of torque. Say what you want about stock, I'm talking about what we got and what our current situations will do. I'd leave you so far behind you'd be thinking your Mormon Mover wasn't even started. Just kidding. I like the Maroon its pretty.
Nothing like a good old fashioned "my dicks bigger than yours" war!
My 08 6.4 is the first diesel I owned and the only reason I bought it was because I was going to buy a 08 V10 and I actualy signed the papers and took it home. I went straight home and put my 10k trailer on it and took it for a ride in the good old Pacific Northwest and it was a joke up hill. Took it back and told the guys I didn't want it. I had a 3day period to break contract. They let me take a 6.4 home before I completly backed out of the sale. Loaded it up stock and it was a night and day diffrence going up a hill. I stuck with the PSD. I was actualy excited about my new truck, alot better than going home dissapointed after $45K.
The 7mpg was also a nice little treat on the V10 too. With my tuner I now get 14 towing/ 16city/ 24hwy. Thats almost exactly double the gas the V10 was getting. Nice truck but I'd rather pay more anyday for that diesel upgrade when your wanting a truck to perform like it aint gasping for air when towing.
Might wanna look into some stiffer leaf springs, or an add-a-leaf. Maybe some air bags. Thats some nasty sag you got there bro. Well at least its a Ford!
What altitude are you at?
I just got a WD hitch to fix the sag, The one pic that it is so bad in because I had it way over the rear axle weight rating.
5/8 Steel plate in the back of the van and on the nose of the trailer.

I have to agree with PHElectric. I live in the PNW. I have owned a 6.0 PSD and currently own a 2006 V10 with 4:10s. There is no comparison in towing a 10K travel trailer between Portland and Seattle on I-5 between the two. The PSD ROCKS! The V10 will get you there but at 7 mpg and constantly downshifting at the slightest uphill grade. I loved my PSD, but the stupid thing was in the shop too much. The V10 is great for the everyday running around, but anytime I hook up a trailer, I miss the PSD.
I think somebody missed out that the forum is supposed to be filled with knowledge and be fun. This has been a fun thread. It is too bad that being RIGHT has to be so important.

I'm going to have to ask you and PHElectric to take your arguments elsewhere. At least until you have something uselful that you can post here in the form of an equation or theory. There is no place in the thread for logical stuff like actually owning both vehicles or comparing both vehicles with the same trailer on the same road. From now on try to begin all posts with some sort of phrase like "on paper" or "according to this formula", etc.

Ouch!
When I read the first two sentences in your post, I almost choked on my coffee.
Then I read the rest, and all was well in the world...
If you do the math on paper and you include all factors, it is the same as real world.
If that were true, why did Ford thoroughly test the 6.7? Why do test pilots have a job? Why doe the scientific method have a step for testing the hypothesis?
After having read all posts in this thread, nowhere did I see a post with enough math "to include all factors." In fact, we don't even have enough information to do it. That is why some are seeing a difference between what the formula's say and what their real world experience says.
BTW, where did you come up with the 5,000 foot number? I have been trying to figure out what the number is so I am curious.
