That didn't prove anything, it still had 5 seconds to make up. Yes, it took 5 seconds longer to go 700 feet than the v10 did. And, since the hill was done, we have no idea if the v10 had more in it or not. And....it was a srw 3/4 v10 vs. a dually 1 ton psd. Put them in the same body and see what happens.
And yes, this had been discussed over and over. It "proved" nothing. And look at the dieselpowermag article that showed the v10 with less hp to the rear wheel than the psd, significantly less. That has been argued too.
You mean the Diesel Power Mag article that has been proven wrong time and time again by fact that there are guys here on FTE putting more to the rear wheels with 2v V10s?

Yeah, I said it has been argued... The problem is though, as has also been discussed, that you cannot compare two dynos at two different places. That test was same dyno, same scenario.
Regardless of whether you think they are making stuff up, until we get a v10 and a psd on the same dyno, same day, that is what we have to go on. Same with pulling, until we get a same age v10 and psd together, there is not much to go on.
Edit: yes I know there was a 7.3 in the test against the 2v v10, but there was obviously something wrong with it, so until you get a good running one, that one doesn't count much either.
Simply put wrong....
HP is not measurable, you MUST get that fact clear before anything else. HP is NOT a actual figure. TQ is what moves stuff.
I used to rail against HP as a unit of work, but I've gotten over that. HP is a REAL measurable quantity, it is the amount of torque versus speed.
As I've said before in this thread, let's take two electric motors as an example.
Both are 1 HP - one spins at 3600RPM, the other at 1800RPM. By definition, the 1800RPM 1HP motor is putting out twice as much torque. However, if you are using either one to spin say a fan in an HVAC unit, and you want that fan to spin at a certain rate, you have to gear the 3600RPM motor at a 2:1 ratio. The 1800RPM motor can be a 1:1 and STILL GET THE SAME WORK DONE.
So, in this instance, horsepower is a PERFECT way to compare dissimilar engines with different RPM ranges. (Side note: that 3600RPM motor is going to spin twice as fast, but also be a lot smaller, and weigh a lot less. Think PMGR starters. Smaller motor, higher revving, less torque from the motor, but with gear reduction it puts more torque into the flywheel than a standard 1:1 big-ole starter motor)

So you want to redo your math? Ok using your number 1450 X 1.12 X 3.73 = 6057lb-ft to the wheels. (not sure about your math as your trans ratios don't make sense but ok, but using it changes a LOT )
I promise you that your V10 will NOT out pull taht 325hp diesel. using fuzzy math doesn't change physics.
Where are you getting 1450ft/lbs for the diesel? That's incorrect.
Yeah....the beat goes on...and nobody is willing to have a pull off....same ol story different day....lots of math and little incentive to take a small road trip to bring the debate to a head in a REAL WORLD challenge. LMAO!!!!!!

There have been two separate VIDEOED comparisons driven by this very thread, plus a third from Johnny Langton comparing his V10 to another PSD.
Gotta look outside the box so to speak, to find them. One of them is here.
Yeah, and through all that, the PSD won every time (with the exception of the PSD that started smoking) and you v10 guys STILL say you will outpull any PSD. LOL

Not all of us. And if you actually LISTEN/READ, you'll find almost no one saying the V10 will do it 100% of the time. But it gets darn close, doesn't it?
And personally, I could give two craps which ones get to the top of the hill first
That's like comparing bling and seeing who has the biggest pile of crap around their neck. If you have 100oz of gold around your neck and payed $900/oz for it, while I have only 60oz and payed $500/oz for it, who wins? The trick is who can swim when the river rises.
