We got the little clip lock on ours also but i would rather run some cords in to the house for the major appliances than risk blowing myself up. Good luck guys.
The sad thing is, electric grinder work great on them...
With no electricity???? But I digress. Let me tell you even a small generator with extension chords is a Godsend in times like this. Uses less fuel too. Power the life necessities and skip the fluff. It will hopefully only be for a few days at most.
Heck, my power was out from Ike for about 5 hours today due to blowing debris. Stupid storm must have been an **** tear there. I felt like an a$$ when I was getting bent out of shape because power and cable was out and I wanted to watch the Titans play in Cinci. I did manage to watch it, and anyone who did could see how bad the Ike wind was up in Cinci during that game from that storm.
Wish I could do something to help, but I had to cut some tree down that had fallen on my shed here. I didn't even see the brunt, or anything close to it. I wish a speedy recovery to all affected.
My sister in far Northern central Kentucky was without power for almost 7 hours today and had 75 mph winds. We here in Charlotte had just another great day.
Just got off the phone with Scott, he got a generator and is heading home. He sounded good and said the weather is great. Much cooler and less humid. He is going to call some Jim and try to get help hooking it up. For now, drop cords to run the basics. He sounded much better than the last time we talked. I think he is going to be fine.
Good news on Scott. Thanks for the report.
Lisa I feel like a spider in the corner of the ceiling way up here in Seattle.
All I can do is watch it all happen.
Barry, glad to know Scott got his generator and is in good spirits. Staying positive is half the battle. Thanks for keeping us updated.

Yeah, it sucks! I almost wish I could transport myself down there, if only to help out. I don't have a lot of money but I am good manual labor!
I just spoke with Mike (WILDMAN_Stroker*7.3) of Angleton. He returned home last night. He is cleaning up around the house this morning. He had damage to the fence, but his home faired well. He is without power, but is on his generator for now. His neighbors across the street, on a different grid, do have power. Hopefully, he will have power restored by Wed.
I got a voicemail from Rick (miller_feed) while talking to Mike. I called Rick back. He has been staying with his brother, Brian, and has gone to his home by boat to check things out. His home and shop are OK, but he had word that his feed and farm supply store was flooded. He is on his way there now to check out the store. There is several feet of water over the roads in that area. I will let you know when I hear from him again.
Glad to know that they are doing alright.
Glad to say I just talked to Roland and breifly to Joe. Joe sounded very busy and I see he is online and will hopefully will update us when he has a chance. Really good to be able to talk to all these guys and know that everyone has survived this awful storm. Joe, if you read this, don't worry about returning my call if your busy, just post when you can. I will talk to you later.
Joe, (joegebff) called back this morning and as expected he is very busy with the fire dept. He has been there since the day before the storm and will be there though Wed at least. As power is restored to his area, the fire dept remains busy with downed lines. He told me about 50% of his town is restored. He lives in a town that is surrounded by the town of Houston. He was on the weaker side of the storm, if there was one. Overall he said things were going as well as possible, but said again that things appeared much worse with the power toward Scott's house.
Its great to hear that Rick and his home made it through alright. Hopefully the store faired well too. Good to hear Mike made it through alright if I was him I would run me one big extention cord over to the neighbors and plug in.
