OK so me and my family are back from this nuisance called Ike. We stayed through the hurricane it self but left 2 days later due to no power, We have a 2 year old who I was not gonna leave without power (well not gonna leave without Bob the builder) plus 50 bucks a day in fuel and a 2 hour wait time for the generator. So we loaded up the stroke and went to stay with family in San Antonio. Well almost 3 weeks later we have power back and no real damage to property (unless you count the four wheeler trailer which was destroyed by a tree) but I have plenty of clean up and fire wood (read more work). We had a good time with the family though and I got in some good four wheeling.
Gator is good, had it once when I was in FL. Taste like chicken

We took a ride down to Galveston today and took these pics. Thought I would post them up in case anyone is interested.
On the I-45 coming into town:

The Bishop's Palace weathered the storm ok but did receive some flood damage:

One of the things that I noticed right away yesterday that really pissed me off.....gas in the Houston area is down to $2.95/gal. Diesel is running about $3.59/gal. On Galveston island gas is $3.59/gal and diesel is $3.99/gal. So, while the rest of Texas is getting a break from high fuel prices, the folks that live in Galveston are being punished because they were impacted by a hurricane.
