Here's my lilreport from my corner of the world... the entire coast of LA is underwater. the surge was as bad if not worse than rita...St Mary parish all the way to Cameron parish got a surge of about 10-12 ft. probably thousands of camps and homes flooded. several cities along the coast were completely under water...at least noone was killed here yet that I have heard...I will probably have alot to clean up at the camp tomorrow, along with the gustav damage...
Whew! We made it through all this. We managed to come out with minimal damage to the house. Only lost some shingles. No leaks. Everything else is superficial. Not something I would want to repeat anytime soon. Just got power a couple of hours ago. Had generator on and breaker to house off. Lost power for about 12 hrs. Been outside most of the afternoon removing boards, straightening up, and putting dogs back in the pen. It was a pretty long night; pretty tired from all the storm preparations. Wind kept me up and watched TV until power failed. I'm just chill'n now on the forum.
Thanks for all the well wishes and concerns. Glad to hear Rick and family is OK. I haven't been in touch with him since before the storm.
Barry, Jim, Dave,
Sorry I didn't call back.
Things were still pretty hectic around here. I don't want ya'll to think I forgot about ya'll. Thank you for giving me your contact info.

Glad all is well relatively speaking, for you Roland. I was worried about you. Get some rest, don't push yourself too hard, that is when accidents occur. There's no rush.

Thanks, Jason. I am through outside for the day. I am going to rest up for tomorrow and will take my time finishing up. Most of the things yet to do can wait a little bit. Should be able to good tonight.
I hope Rick, Scott, and everyone else affected are doing OK as well.

Roland I'm glad to hear that you are ok and that all is well!!!! Remember you have to listen to the doctor!!!
Roland, glad to hear you are ok and not too much damage outside. I was reading about a hurricane that caused no deaths but quite a few died doing the cleanup. Dad talking "BE CAREFUL".

Jay, thanks for the report. What occurred in your area is hard for a drylander like myself to comprehend. How far inland did the water go?
We made it through the storm in one piece...I had to use the winch to clear some of the streets after ike pushed through....its pretty rough down here. A few of my friends called my winch/bumper overkill a few weeks ago....now they are singing a different tune, LMAO. The power was restored a few mins ago so at least we have lights now

Glad you made it thru OK.
There's no such thing as "overkill". It's just "extreme preparedness". LOL
Yeah, my pop in law said the same thing about my PSD 4x4, Said I would never need all that much truck. After I pulled his Ford tractor out of the creek when the bank caved off, he never mentioned it again. Extreme Preparedness sounds about right.
Glad to hear you guys and your families are ok, concerned for the rest of the crew also that we haven't heard from yet. Hopefully soon. Take care guys...
Mav, glad to hear things are somewhat returning to normal. Full recovery will take a while. Good to hear about your "extreme preparedness". Helps make life a little easier. Now we have PSD's with EP as well as PMS!
