I have been texting with Scott today, he was able to get $200 in gas for the generator and find a Chili's that was open to have lunch at today. I was looking for power updates for him late lastnight and I read that 99% of the people in his area don't have power. The Conroe Courier said it could be up to 3 weeks before power is restored. The good thing is he is somewhat close to the power plant so hopefully he will be one of the first to get his power back on.
Jim has been in contact with Scott about hooking up the generator. He's not going to be able to handle his AC but will has access to a fan to help with the heat. Thanks Jim for helping him out. Wasn't sure I could do a good enough job explaining the tie in to him to be safe. I knew Jim could and he did.
I feel so bad for all those people. Even those who escaped damage...now have to deal with the heat and horrible humidity and standing water, with no AC and in some cases no running water for showers.
OK guys and gals, just talked to Rick. He is still under a lot of water. He just got power back to his house today. Water got in his shop at his house and water was within an inch of getting in his house. Lots of debris around his house. He is still unable to get in his store but knows his feed portion of the store was flooded with over 4 foot of water. His store portion is on piers and he said the water level looked very close and may have some water damage. He told me that this was the worst flooding he had ever seen in his area. The bridge going to is store is a pontoon bridge and it still floating too high to drive across and the only access to the store is by boat. He hope to be able to get into the store in 2 to 3 days. Today was the first time he could drive his truck on the roads. Minimal damage to his home and shop and like he said, the store is still unknown. He said he was alright and in time would be back as usually. Internet service is still a ways down the road. It sounded like he has his hands full and lots of work ahead of him. Roland left me a voice mail today, he was on his way to work, so I guess he is getting back to normal and will be on here later. Haven't heard from Scott today so I hope he is doing OK. I know he a Jim were going to be in contact with hooking up the generator. That's all for now, more when I hear.

I did talk to Scott yesterday and we went over what he had to do to hookup his generator. I'm assuming that all went well because he said that he'd call me if he had any problems.
Roland called me yesterday to let me know that he had talked to Rick and that he was ok. Roland I do appreciate that whereas I was at work and had no way to check the site.
Barry thanks for the enormous effort that you have put in here to keep all of us informed. This is another prime example of what the people of this forum are made of!! Thanks again!!
Here is a pic of us giving this semi about 250 gallons of diesel from Missouri. Church couldn't get it out of parking lot by baton rouge. They had a dock to get to and couldn't get there. We took about 15-17000lbs of food also. While we were there we helped with some chainsaw crews and got down and dirty helping those who couldn't afford it.
Dustan, you are doing what all of us would like to. My hat is off to you! I got a text from Scott and the generator is hooked up per Jim's instructions and doing good. He did comment that it is starting to get hot again and of coarse the mosquitoes are about to carry them off. He said no word on power but didn't look close. I am leaving for the Skeeter Boats Owners Tournament in 6 hours and won't be back until Sunday night. I don't know if we will have Internet access or not. Skeeter made my hotel arrangements and I have no idea where I will be staying, so you guys keep this alive. A lot of you have their numbers so text, or call them. Everyone I have talked to was very glad to hear that all of us were in their corner and pulling and praying for them. I know it would help me to know that I was in everyone's thoughts if were me going through this. Thanks for all the help in making this thread work. Later.
I just got back from Houston...I will post more when I am not so tired...in my 15 plus storms now I don't remember such a storm surge, the water lines everywhere reminded me of Katrina except that was flood waters not storm surge. Parts of I-10 east of Mont Belvieu had marsh grass piled 8 ft high that had been scraped off to the side...I saw two houses washed off their piers sitting within inches of I-10...the destruction was as expected for coastal areas...still amazed at the furor of these things. Hope everyone prepares for the next one and gets power back soon..bedtime now, up sice 4. later
