I'm not sure how legal i was towing and hauling food and fuel over my plate limit but we went anyway. I was at about 21000lbs without two riders and luggage. My friends expidition hauled a lighter load. We pulled a few thousand pounds off my trailer and just placed items on floor of his trailer. Then my trailer brakes stop working halfway down. 10 mpg all the way down and 11 mpg all the way back. Pulled like a champ, now i'm ready for my dp tuner
I've been hesitant to post this picture because of all you folks that really took the hit.
Mom in Port Isabel sent me the pictures of what happened to her.
Basically no wind and simply a very calm storm surge. She really dodged a bullet compared to what you people endured in the Houston area.
The worst thing that happened in Port Isabel is the decks all got wet.
Dan,
No reason to feel bad about her good fortune. South Texas has had its share of storms, too. It was just our time and I hope that they are few and far between. I do not wish them on anyone.
Well I am back after 4 days with a chainsaw in my hands. I started cutting trees up saturday morning around 9 am. and probably would still be sawing if I didnt get called into work today. We only lost power at our house around 11:00pm Friday night and finally got power back on Sunday afternoon. I consider ourself lucky since there are so many others without power. I hope everyone in the houston/galveston area gets back up on their feet really soon.
Here is part of a text I just got from Scott:
plz tell everyone thk you from me. I get calls and txt everyday and I appreciate it.
Here are some of the pictures he has sent me:
Willis Storm Surge
Friend of his house
His back yard, he was happy the cover stayed on the jet ski
Another shot of his back yard
Jezebel helping in clean up
Front yard is clean again
Cris,
Thanks for posting the pictures. We are thinking of him and his family throughout all this. Hope everyone without power gets back on soon. I was without power for only 12 hours. I feel fortunate that things weren't worse down here.
I am literally right down the road from you off of 762.
We got some damage. A little water damage in the house due to the roof being torn up and our chimney being ripped off. We got power, water, septic back yesterday. I spent most of Saturday patching up my house and neighbors houses with tarps. It appears that a tornado may have been what got us. There is a very obvious path of damage through our neighborhood. At least my family is okay.
That is Buck, Mom's dog. He's a great dog for her, half Doberman and half something else.

Thank you for that.
After seeing all the pictures that Cris just posted of Scott clearing the debris, I am even more grateful that Ike missed Mom's place.
She doesn't have the strength to do that sort of work.
