I have my truck parked on the lawn between my house and the neighbor's house. The reason it's parked there is because it's a clear path if any trees come down and my neighbor is cool with it.
I just got a call from the HOA president. Seems he's out driving through the neighborhood and noticed my truck up on the lawn and he just wanted to remind me that parking on the lawn is a deeds restriction violation. He said he would "do me a favor" and overlook it "this time".
Yeah, um, ok there buddy. Sounds like he needs a "BOD" mod.
Had almost forgot the BOD mod, but he sounds like a good candidate for the award. Guess he didn't want all the visitors to think you guys were uncouth.
After the storm passes be careful of downed power lines. This advice I'm going to offer may sound backwards but it may save your life. If you happen upon a downed line, you don't know if it is dead or live, unless it's high voltage then it may "dance" do not run or walk away from it, keep both feet on the ground and shuffle away from it. Take dragging footsteps. Electricity always takes the path of least resistance to ground. If you are close enough the ground can become electrified. The electricity can go into 1 foot through the leg and try to go back to ground via the foot that is not touching the ground. I was taught this during a high voltage class years ago and the video that they showed has stuck in my mind.
I just got off the phone with Scott(TexasOutlaw), all is well so far. Will be checking in with him in the am, if the phone and/or power lines allow it. He said the wind is starting to pick up a bit but nothing too major so far.
Thanks for the good advice, Jim. I have two power lines close by and I was wondering what to do if they went down.
Your Welcome, and what Barry said is true, but not because of the rubber tires only. The same principle as before. Your feet are not touching the ground so the electricity may jump.

Some people have nothing better to do than be an azzhat.
Just talked to Scott and I THOUGHT he was going to try to get a few hours sleep before the worst arrives. Sounds like he is ready to ride this one out. So, let's say goodnight to Scott so he will turn off his computer and get some rest for the busy day he has in store for him.
Good night Scott.
Haven't heard from Rick, Hope he is Ok, Here is the lastest hurricane state for his area. I think he is in the Cameron parish. Don't look good for that area either. Hurricane Local Statement for IKE
