Well it been about 9 months since I bought my crew cab and decided that I would tear it apart and fix what I didn’t like. Ditched the stock axles and picked up some 2014 superduty axles with the big brakes and elocker. Stripped the steering and suspension from the truck. Then proceeded to build a new suspension and steering from scratch. It will have King coil overs on the front with triple bypasses and the rear has Deaver spring under axle long travel leafs (G2HD link killers) with 3.0 triple bypasses. 2.5” diameter x2.75” travel bumpstops at all 4 corners. Still has the stock straight 6 in it but after the suspension I will repower it with something else. Been thinking 6.2 all aluminum ls3.
This was the steering set up when I bought the truck. 20” drag bar and camero steering box with welded pitman arm, heim joints with single sheer. Scary stuff!
Double bobbed the bed. Took 30” out of it. 24” before the rear axle and 6 behind it. As it sits right now. Waiting for shocks. 12-16 weeks.
About ready to get to work on this one. I imagine it’s easier to repair the rear doors than replace them? I know I need to be on the lookout for roof rot so I’ll clean up the inside cavity and spray with fluid film or something similar.

Rear doors are not reproduced so unless you already know where you can get a set in good condition for a good price you're likely better off repairing them.
I grew up in Port Orchard. I keep looking at your photos and trying to guess where you're at.
The trouble is that could be so many places in the area. It could be out Mile Hill, out on Sydney Ave, or somewhere closer in to town. Not to be a stalker but all the pictures look so familiar.

Haha you got me, I’m off Mile Hill. Well at least the trucks are. I’m actually in Bremerton right now but I’m hoping to buy a house in the next year or two somewhere in Port Orchard. What area are you from?

Another crew pic to keep it relevant
My childhood house is right off Geiger, the first road on the left when you come up Sedgewick. When I moved out, I lived in a Bremerton for a little bit, then moved to Belfair for a few years. Now I'm in Montana and I love it here, but I do get nostalgic for the area out there. I spent so much time riding my bike all over there as a kid. Last summer when I was visiting family I was probably only a couple of miles from your trucks. I stopped at my cousin's place out Woods road. It's funny how when I'm trolling Craigslist I can identify areas pretty well. The PNW has a very distinctive look, just like out here east of the Rockies does. I chuckle every time I see a scam ad photo that claims to be from out here, but doesn't show mountains, snow or large views of brown grass, or one that claims to be from the wet side, but doesn't have a white out overcast sky and moss growing on the driveway.
So when I had mine sanded down, it seemed pretty obvious to me that the rear doors are fabricated from front doors. So based on the welds, it looked like they took a front door, cut it down to size, and then took the back window rail from another front door, and boxed in the front side of the back doors. I would imagine that any part could be cut out of a normal front door to piece in the back sections.

Oh nice! I’m not far from Woods at all. And yes, it’s easy to identify the scammers based on the photos

I live in Western Washington. Looking to buy a 73-79 Ford crew cab. I am interested in the cab only, preferably 77-79. Willing to pay cash for something not all rusted out. tracygay@centurylink.net
Mystery studs
Does anyone know what the heck the two studs that are welded to the floor, underneath the middle of the rear seat in a 78 crew are for? It's not for seatbelts or anything, I thought maybe a jack, but there is already a jack in the engine compartment. I know it's factory because I have seen the same studs in pics of other people's crews...
That is where the two-piece lug wrench is secured. It is a straight rod about 5/8-inch diameter and 18-inches long. The other piece is a lug socket with rod that had a hole for turning. There should be two clamps with wing nuts to hold everything down. If you really want to see how it goes, I can snap a photo of mine tonight and post it tomorrow.
