Pass. side framerail - on top. 2wds are about in line with the alternator typically and 4wds are between the front body mount & shock mount typically.

And I will have to do the same as I'm in the same boat.

When everybody says that they changed the f250 frames for 78-79, that is relevant to the 4x4 frames. Can anyone confirm that the 2wd F250 frames were any different than the pre 78 2wd F250 frames. Just wondering. All of my 2wd f250's are pre 78.

My 74 F250 RCLB was 37" I thought all 2wd reg cabs were 37
As far as my 79 crew, it was a gov't truck, so maybe it is an oddity. In my (gov't) experience, their vehicles are made from the finest factory seconds, so my crew could have been built on an older frame, but titled a 79.
I can't confirm much about 4wds, as the only 4wd I bought was the 77 F150 I used the frame from to convert my 74 to 4wd.
To many pages to go thru here, have a question about crew cabs. Could a member please tell me the measurement from the FAC to the back of a crewcab. Or dircect me to a thread or post that has this info. I used the search, and I get pages from the whole forum, wish we could search with-in each section to narrow down a search faster.

weird...maybe all the crews were only 34" 2wds. I Will check my 77 f250 super cab 2wd tomorrow......
As far as I know......all 2wd 73-79 trucks are 37. Except the supercamper f350 140'wbdiesel truck and the dew chassis cabs.....all f100 and f150 4wds are 37.........73-77 4wd reg or crew are 34............(high boy devorced tcase trucks) 77.5-79 all 4wdthe trucks are 37. Clear as mud.........why! Hope this helps.........
I know I can find production numbers for various options on these trucks but nothing as specific as what I'd like to know. My 75 crew cab is 2wd, auto, 460, PS, and power disc brakes. If it had A/C I'd be thrilled, if it were 4x4 it'd be even better. Can anyone shed some light on the following?
How many 75 and older crew cabs are 4x4, auto, 390 or 460, A/C, PS and power brakes (disc preferred)?
Did any F250 4x4 short bed crew cabs come with 460 motor or were they all 390 and smaller?
I'm wondering if I'll need to build my own pre-75 (love CA SMOG rules) 4x4, auto, 390 or 460, A/C, PS and power disc brake crew cab or if there might be any of these out there from the factory. If there were any... it's anybody's guess as to how many are actually still out there.
Ell disc brakes in 4x4 didnt come till 1976... Te 460 wasn't offered in 4x4 till 1980... I actually have an a/c crew cab I'm tryig to sell its just the cab and rear doors. And it's a 1973 so they do exist.
