I just got mine in my f-150 4x4 5.4 screw. I have a K&N FIPK also. Right now I have it set at 2 with the tire adjustment done (33's). So anyone have any suggestions for further customs? I was wondering how much to adjust shift firmness, points, and timing. Anyone have good luck with this setup? I see a lot on here people have adjusted 3 points on shift firmness and some have said 5. I have a higher mileage(93k) truck, so I'm kind of concerned with going too far. I don't do much towing, just looking to improve mpg and power, mostly power though. Also did I read that right when you do a custom on level 2, even though it says zero, it is still at the level 2 setting?
Thanks
Just to add....bought a new '06 Scab 5.4 and just installed the Edge (1,400 miles). Took 10 minutes, no issues, no problems, and it completely transformed the truck! Went straight for Level 3. I'm still playing with all the gauges and will probably bump up the timing +1 (93 octane) and shift firmness, but this thing is great! Absolutely the most bang for the buck available. I did add an AEM CAI and this thing sounds like an F-16 taking off. Got a little resonance issue around 2000 rpm, but HOLY CRAP, it's fun to drive.
BTW, got it from Discount Power Parts...best price by far, in stock, and delivered in 2 days. These guys do what they say, and if they have what I'm looking for in the future, I will buy from them. Customer service is still alive.
Got my shift firmness set at 3 for 1st to 2nd, then 5 for 2-3 and 3-4.
Took some experimentation and one of those convenient speed-sign/radar gun trailers to get my MPH dialed in...but even so, I think the calibration in the cluster is whacked...the readout on the edge is spot on with the radar...the cluster is about 3-4 mph higher than that reading.
Running level 3 tune otherwise...haven't messed with the timing, but did run into an issue ONCE...was playing with the settings and it showed me an error screen F1 tune not supported at this time. So I just backed out and drove home. Took the module and re-installed the updated flash (already did it one time, when I first got it). And now its fine again. I guess it didn't like being monkey'd with so much.
All in all, best money I have spent on this truck yet.
And thanks needs to go to Discount Power for a damn good deal.
Got my Dege last week. Set it for level two and find a big difference. On the AVMG setting i'm getting between 12 - 14.5mpg. Now my question. It has been -30c/-22f for the past few days, the truck sat for 36 hours. I used my auto-start this morning and when I got in the truck the dispaly was frozen. I shut the truck off and restarted it same thing. Drove for 15 minutes no change. Shut the truck off again and unplugged the edge display for 10 minutes. Plugged it in and dispaly said turn key ahead but don't start. Read the hex number and went to display. Started truck and it worked and was on level 2. Shut truck off 40 minutes later, sat for two hours and it read the hex again before starting. Worked fine since. Any ideas as to why this happened?
On the really cold nights, sure. If you don't want that hassle, you could always just undo the OBDII port plug before you crank it over in the morning... and drive without the heads up display. The "tune" will stay loaded. You lose the gauges for the trip.... may or may not be a big deal on the real cold mornings. If you were to do that, you could always just plug the OBDII dongle back in once you arrive at your end location (with the truck off). The heat from your defrost and what not shoud bring the temp of the Edge up to more than adequate. Either way should work.
