2004 Screw - Take your truck to a 1/4 mile strip and you'll probably see better results. The EDGE times it a little differently than a track does. On the EDGE, time starts as soon as you let off the brake and it takes a little bit before that much weight gets moving. On the drag strip, time starts when you break the lights, as in, as soon as it is actually moving. Therefore, your 1/4 mile and 0-60 times will show quicker at the track.
My truck, I know, a diesel, has the EDGE and I tested it's timing at the track and the 1/4 mile time was off by almost a full second. Of course, it takes even longer to get my 7760 lb truck to moving after taking my foot off the brake.
Just out of curiosity, are you brake torquing it for the launch? You'll get even quicker if you can launch while it's wound up tight.
Also, if you're curious, my best 0-60 on the EDGE timer is 5.2. Best 1/4 mile is 14.6. Not bad for almost 8000 lbs. huh? Have fun with it!!
2005 F-150 scab 5.4 3.73 32,000 miles stock except for Edge and AME air filter. I am running Level 3, Shell 91 octane, shift firmness +3 on all, timing +1 (2850' asl), WOT 1.5, 1-2 shift 5400 rpm, 2-3 , 3-4 shift stock. At steady 2000 rpm (70 MPH) there is serious bucking and surging. At all other rpms all is well. 0-60 times dropped from stock 9.97 (average 4 runs - flat area run both directions) to a best of 7.86 with a typical run of 8.0-8.1. It seems to be related to the spark as the numbers are jumping around from high 30s to single digits when this bucking occurs. The numbers do jump around to a lesser extent during normal steady state driving. There is no audible detonation. Have others experienced this?
this has to be one of the longest threads...anywho, just thought i share with you guys that I finally had some time to paint the pod to match my dash piece that it lies on. Much better look.
I was thinking the same thing. Very long, but lots of good ideas. I wonder what the response will be like next week when we have the new Evolution for the older F150's. Its just like this one.
On level 2 at about 2000 rpm I'm hearing what sounds like a rattle (not a nice sound) from the trans just as it shifts. It only does it when I'm light on the throttle but when I get on it a bit more it's fine. Has anyone experienced this?
My edge settings are; Levl 2, Gear Ratio 3.55, Tire size 2557, Std Shift +1 all levels, Sft Firmness +5 all levels.

I'm running Level 2, shift firmness +5, 3.55 LS, 87 octane with no timing adjustment. I experienced some of this "bucking or surging" on 1 or 2 different occasions when accelerating from a slow speed (driving around in a parking lot). This started after I installed the latest update (Version 20 beta, I think). I did not experience this in previous versions.
Yeah I experienced some of the same surging and bucking you guys are talking about at "normal" acceleration. I just downloaded the 21 BETA. Anyhow, I'm new to the Edge and so far love it, but I have a few questions.
1. When I start up my truck, the Edge comes on and then the disclaimer comes on, where it asks you to hit enter to accept the terms of the disclaimer. Is this normal, if I don't hit anything, what happens? Hitting enter everytime is kinda a pain. (but still well worth it)
2. Right now I just started out on Level 1, if I go to level 2 should I be putting higher octane in it, or is that just for level 3? Did you guys notice a big difference between 1 and 2?

You should only have the disclaimer for a total of 4 times.
Only Level 3 needs higher octance, or so it says on entry to the configuration.
Level 2 seems to be more 'level', as one would expect on towing, more 'grunt'.
Haven't played with level 3 yet.. level 1, wiht update 3 weeks ago, seems to have lost the abikity to allow me to customize.. (tire size and ratio).
I need to recheck that this weekend. I'm tuning a 4.6, and looking for that little extra 'kick'.
Anybody getting a wastegate-like sound when the tranny upshifts on WOT?
I've had my Edge in for a few days, just getting familiar with the default level 3 tunes before I start playing around with it. But I've noticed this sound right at upshift that sounds exactly like a diesel wastegate opening.
If it a single noise like a waste gate, it is most likley the serpentine belt slipping slightly, which is normal, or it could also be the rev liminter if you have changed shift points but not the rev limiter
